Radiants are beautiful. They're full of fire and because they are a shallow cut, you get more size for your dollar. Six years ago I really, really wanted a quality radiant cut. Asschers are extremely elegant, tasteful, unique, original but somehow very personal. They are a deeper cut so you don't get as much visual size for the dollar as a radiant. BUT . . . it's the difference of buying FLASH instead of QUALITY. The depth of an Asscher gives it TRUE life instead of flash. Michelle @ QualityOnly It's the difference of buying a beautiful home waterfront or a huge tract home a few miles away. The radiant, or huge home has a lot of "show" but not as much substance. The Asscher is not as "showy" but is elegant and holds it's value. Also . . . Asschers are still very difficult to get. Asschers are highly sought after. Your diamond is only as valuable as the market demands. |

I'll take the smaller beautiful house on the waterfront with a boat in the water...but not in Florida this week!! Radiant is my favorite cut but they each have a different look and both are beautiful if they have a nice cut and polish. dimonbob, GG |

Sorry, I don't agree with your analogy. It's all a matter of personal taste. Obviously yours favors Asschers. You are trying to degrade the worth of a radiant cut using the snob factor, claiming that Asschers are classier. I think Asscher's are beautiful, but I also think the same of radiant cuts too. By the way, I'd prefer the large "tract" house. Usually a neighborhood with lots of kids to play with, friendly and family oriented. Just where I am in my life.

I'm sorry if I came off as "snobby". I'm certainly not. I HAVE a tract home full of happy children. Maybe I should have picked another analogy and prefaced it with "my preference is". Sorry, 'new to this forum.

Why do you say rads are cut shallow ? It doesn't appear that way at first sight... unless you are talking of the branded version that seems to target a certain spread. When you say "Asscher" what do you have in mind? The RA or a set of parameters for a square step cut. With the general appearence of a rectangular/square modified brilliant and a square step cut in mind it would be hard to compare too so different animals. Obviously both step and brilliant style facets have their own appeal. And if one cannot decide, there are at leat a few cut models that combine both and quite sucessfully ![]() As far as I can immagine, it is more interesting to find a way to compare the cut styles themselves, not the hype made up for each. Afater all, we all have different neighbours - one can never know if they'd hate you more for an impressive radiant than for an asscher until you try ![]() Ana "The greatest experts are only as good as the sum total of what they have seen."
