Gang-
I, well she, found the wedding band she wants. Of course, it's at tiffany and co. It's a beautiful piece, but does anyone know of someplace that can do a similar design for less? I'd almost be more comfortable going through an online vendor, rather than a maul (thanks Mara) store. The metal can be either platinum or white gold, though I'm inclined to stick with platinum for its durability. The specs from T+C are as follows:

Channel-set diamond and sapphire band ring, full circle. Round brilliant diamonds, carat total weight .42 (size 4), color grade G, clarity grade VS; round sapphires, carat total weight .54; 3mm; platinum.

$2,250

My timeline is very long on this, as I still need to propose (ahem, "minor" detail ) Any suggestions for that piece? She's said that if I give her a ring, she'll wear it, but doesn't *need* an e-ring. I was thinking something tasteful and (hopefully) inexpensive. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Tom

You may want to contact Wink @ winfields.com. Although I haven't bought from him, he comes highly recommended from people around here. From what I have seen, he is the one regular around here that deals with gemstones as well. So you could show him the pic and see if there are other sources of the same style, or what it would cost to put one together for you.

As for diamond engagement rings, the world is your oyster here. Look on the vendors page, search the forum for feedback, and you will find several that are used quite extensively. There is not a shortage of fantastic diamonds through pricescope vendors. Make sure you educate yourself and comparison shop, and you will certainly do just fine. Congrats on these "exciting" purchases.

Do you have a budget and an idea of color, clarity, carat weight your looking for in the ering diamond. The people around here love to help look for beautiful diamonds online

Well, since you like that style, you are really in luck. There are tons and tons and tons of those online. (of course, asking Wink isn't at all a bad idea either, he does great work) I didn't include ones with different patterns of sapphire/diamond, or those with cuts that weren't round, but they're out there, too.

This one's huge, but lovely: http://store.diamonddesignco.com/plat40diamsa.html
Here's one that's closer to the weight you're looking for: http://www.billbarnes.com/product.asp?engine=froogle&product=5714

sndgems.com has a lot of them, but I'd hesitate to reccomend them, since so many people around here have had problems getting a hold of them, and getting them to ship orders.

That's all I can find for you right now, since I have to get on a plane, but just be reassured, they're easy to find.

Signed Pieces used to have something identical to that but, for some reason, I'm not seeing it on their website... but you could certainly give them a call. They may still have it but it might not be listed.

From memory, I believe a few people from PS were impressed with SP
