Hello all! Everyone was so helpful in the beginning part of the year when I bought my engagement ring for my fiancé that I thought I would ask for a little more. I want to get her some diamond studs for Christmas. I got the money now so I want to good ahead and spend before I spend it on something else. In the past she has mentioned she would like some diamond studs that she could wear all the time. She doesn’t wear any jewelry at all, except her engagement ring. She barely even wears a watch. With that in mind was size do you think would be appropriate for her? She wants to wear them all the time and I want her to have a size she can comfortably wear all the time. Also I want to get it in princess cut since her ring is princess too. Furthermore, what should I expect to pay? Who has bought earrings from the vendors here? Who would you recommend? Thanks for the help.

1.00ctw (.50 in each ear) is a comfortable size for me.. Is her E-ring a princess also?

I agree with the .50 for a total of 1 carat. That's what I want for Christmas too. Have a pair of CZ in that size right now and they are just the right size for everyday wear.

Shes 23 and of medium build. So you think a full carat betwen the 2 is tghe right size? I was thinking that might be to big but I'm not sure. She wears no jewelry at all. Will the princess cut look as good as the round brilliant? Yes, her e-ring is a princess cut.

Yes, princess cuts will look as good as rounds...but they will look quite a bit smaller....!

Ive been looking at Dirt Cheap Diamond and they have diamond studs for a fairly resonable price. Should I be leary? What should I expect to pay. Im leaning towards not quite a carat. Below where the higher markups are as mentioned earlier in the thread.

no, not at all. I think dirtcheap could be good for studs!

What you'll pay depends on cut quality, color and clarity so there's no way to answer!

I have .75 ctw princesses, but I have small ears with no lobes. They're fine for everyday but I can definitely go bigger and have it not look like too much. I think .5 each is a good way to go.

I like the look of rounds for earrings. The princess cut for earrings are not as "pretty" to me. Rounds tend to stick out a little more.

I'm also not a big fan of princess for e.r. They seem to get lost unless they are quite sizable.

1/3 carat may be o.k. in each ear; but, for not too much more you could go just shy of the 1/2 carat mark. These probably will be something she will have for a long long time. I initially thought of 1/3 each for my niece; but, I knew she could grow into something bigger. If she wanted to use these as sides for a ring later on, I though the larger size nicer.

But, go with what your budget is & what you think she may like. Some like 1/4 c for each ear. I'll try to see if I have a pic of the e.r. on my nieces ear for size comparison.

I have to say that I prefer RB for earrings over princess. I have both, and my princess cut studs are not as pretty as my RB. Granted, my princess studs are not a great cut. My husband got my RB earrings for my birthday, they are a great cut, H, SI1, 1/3 carat each. They are very pretty and have a nice size to them. To get princess earrings to look that size I would definitely have to go larger.

Oh, by the way, my engagement ring is a radiant. I don't think they have to match!

Good luck!

Part of the size questions depends on how long you want these to last. I just bought .57ct each, and love them for everyday. Before buying I tried every size (.25 - 1.5 each) and style of CZ out there to help me decide. I like the smaller sizes for a subtle look. If she really isn't into jewelry, she might like .3 - .4, but if she gets more adjusted to it (as most of us do ), she'll probably out grow them. I agree with F&I, that just under .5 each is a good size that she probably won't outgrow for a long time, but they won't be overwhelming either.

I personally don't like princess cut for earrings. (Had those in CZ's also...). They spin and the corners sit at various angles which may or may not bug someone. And, they just didn't have same simple, sparkly look that rounds do. I don't think they have to match the e-ring. In fact, I think not matching is nicer -- I'm not a big "set" person in anything. I like to pick the best pieces and let them complement each other.
