hi guys, i am in the market for an e-ring, i live in vancouver, canada and was wondering if u could give me some advice re: canadian diamonds. i have found that if i decide to go with a canadian stone i will be paying a higher price. Is it really worth it and do the online companies suggested on this forum sell canadian stones. thanks for the advice.

NiceIce sells Canadian diamonds. They're listed under the vendors page.

The Canadian heritage and non-conflict aspect of the diamonds is kinda cool, if you don't mind paying the modest premium for it. Rich, Independent GG Appraiser |

Silly question, but how do you know if your diamond is a Canadian diamond? The thought never crossed my mind until I received my stone. My diamond arrived in a paper wrapper (is there a name for those?) that had a sticker with the cert summary, one with a Sarin summary, and a stamp of the Canadian flag. Is it safe to assume that it is a Candian diamond?

As to how you know, I believe there are two ways of checking. (this is just what I remember, we didn't acutally manage to find one) 1. if the stone was cut as well as mined in the NWT, then it will come with a certificate of authenticity from the Canadian gov't. 2. if it doesn't, I believe it will (or at least may) come with a number that you can plug into a Canadian website that will confirm that yes in fact this diamond came from the NWT, but was cut somewhere else.

Hi aj55. You should check out CanadianDiamond.com a company that is based out of Vancouver. And you can make an appointment to see their goods in their showroom. Yes, Canadian diamonds are a little bit more expensive (anywhere from 10%-20% more). But some would say that that's the price you pay for peace of mind, knowing that it isn't a conflict diamond.

HI: Depending on the mine, some Canadian diamonds have laser inscriptions depicting their origin. slb "People who possess great qualities, do not need to show off". |
