I'd appreciate any opinions of this A. Jaffe setting. I'm definitely looking for a two-tone design and a round center stone.

if you are definitely looking for a two tone ring with center stone, then I love this choice. It is different than many, but beautiful. A unique ring. I vote yes.

I like it as well, very pretty and graceful. My only caveat would be that you might want to try it on to check that it's not too high before you get it. The stone seems set flush in the setting, though, so it wouldn't be nearly as much of a problem for me, at least!

I think that's a beautiful and gracefully flowing design, and I think two-tones are hard to do well. If it were me and I were setting a colorless range stone in the center, I'd see if they could reverse it so that the center stone is set in the white, but that may not be an issue at all with most other colors. I only mention it because my e-ring is a D set in yellow gold, and that makes it look less white

That is an incredibly beautiful design, but I do have a small warning. My mother has an anniversary ring with six small (~15 point) stones set in a row like your center stone. She hasn't had a problem yet, but in selling the ring to my dad, the jeweler made him promise she'd bring the ring in at least every six months to have it checked because the diamonds are more likely to fall out with that setting.

This shouldn't deter you from choosing the setting unless you think your soon to be fiancee is the type of girl who wouldn't have the ring checked regularly. And perhaps A. Jaffe designed a more secure setting than the small shop in suburbs where my dad found it or it is safer with bigger stones.

Thanks for all the replies. I originally bought this design as an e-ring (see pic below). But as time went on, I wasn't happy with the quality of the metal (18k white and yellow gold). I planned on having a matching band custom made but haven't decided on a design that fit with it and didn't make the set too bulky. I also contemplated having the ring remade in platinum with a few design modifications. Anyway, in my searches I found the Jaffe ring. It has a similar feel to this, but more traditional. I'm still not totally decided, but I'm leaning towards the Jaffe.

Any other thoughts? Should I anticipate any problems with the channel setting?

I think that looks really beautiful. I do agree with quaeritur though that it would look absolutely stunning with the colors opposite. There is something about the white gold next to the diamond. It really brings out the white in a diamond.

I really like it with the wedding band too. The channels look great!!

Another question about this Jaffe setting.

If the setting is made with 18k yellow gold at the top and the matching band is platinum, will the platinum wear down the gold over time since they will be next to each other on the finger? Is it better to go with 18K yellow gold and 18K white gold? What about 14K?

I've been surfing these forums and it seems that choosing the metals can be almost as difficult as choosing the stones.
