Through a B&M with colored stone experience, or an Internet vendor? It seems people on PS go both ways on this issue. But I'm confused, because the same people who recommend buying a high quality colored stone through a broker/B&M also have favorite Internet vendors. Why is this? I want the best quality that I can get with my budget. With this in mind, should I go through a broker/B&M like Wink, or should I purchase through a website? Are the prices comparable, i.e. will I get a similarly size/quality stone either way? Thanks for your help!! |

Thanks for the links, guys. I actually have the PS "favorite gemstone vendor links" thread linked in my browser's favorites I have looked at many online vendors...I guess my main question is, when do you go through a broker, and when do you choose to buy through a website? And are prices and quality comparable?

imho: If your looking for a fairly common stone in the few hundred to few thousand range the websites are fine but if your looking for a hard to find item or want the very top quality and are willing to pay for it then id get a broker working on it. Id pick diamondexpert and/or wink to do it or use mogok as a contact to the resources he has available. ........... Karl has joined the diamond trade and is now posting as Karl_K |
