Good evening, everyone! I'd like to preface this post by thanking everyone for sharing their knowledge, expertise, and passion in these forums! I'm looking for a princess cut diamond over 1 carat in the price range of around $4000 to $5000. I am interested in both size and quality, but neither our eyes are trained enough to necessitate a D/IF. I've found a few that I was hoping I could receive your opinions on. Any assistance would be most appreciated!!Item Code: P1872 Price: $3,806.00 Report: EGL Shape: Princess Carat: 1.25 Color: H Clarity: SI1 Depth: 71.1 Table: 71 Girdle: M Polish: Very Good Symmetry: Very Good Culet: None Fluorescence: Negligible Measurements: 5.97-5.95X4.23 Length/Width: 1.00 Lot Number: 2582933 Price: $4334.09 Laboratory: GIA Carat Weight: 1.21 Color: I (Near Colorless) Shows slight traces of color. Does not work as well with platinum or white gold as above mentioned colors. Clarity: VVS2 (Very Very Slightly Included) Same as VVS1. Only location of inclusions determine lower grade. Shape: Princess Depth: 72.2 Table: 72.00 Polish: G Symmetry: VG Culet: N Girdle: - Fluorescence: F Measurements: 6.00X5.97X4.31 Lot Number: 2661018 Price: $4238.08 Laboratory: GIA Carat Weight: 1.28 Color: I (Near Colorless) Shows slight traces of color. Does not work as well with platinum or white gold as above mentioned colors. Clarity: VS2 (Very Slightly Included) Inclusions slightly larger than VS1. Still need 10x magnification to locate inclusions. Excellent value. Shape: Princess Depth: 74.4 Table: 69.00 Polish: VG Symmetry: VG Culet: N Girdle: - Fluorescence: N Measurements: 6.20X5.94X4.42 Again, thank you for any advice you can provide! Chris |

Although #3 is a little deep, it has, IMO, the most potential to be a winner because of the table/depth proportions. Can you get the crown and pavilion %'s for this stone? What about an ideal scope image? #1 and #2 both have potential as well, but not quite as much....

Researcher, Thank you for the reply! I do agree that the depth is a bit deep... I'm waiting to hear back from the vendor with the other information you were asking for. You said that you liked the table/depth proportion of the third stone. What is an ideal proportion in your opinion? Thanks! Also... I have another stone for everyone's opinion on. Laboratory: GIA Carat Weight: 1.16 Color: G (Near Colorless) Near colorless. Only the slightest hint of color. Mounts very well with platinum and white gold. Excellent value. Clarity: VS2 (Very Slightly Included) Inclusions slightly larger than VS1. Still need 10x magnification to locate inclusions. Excellent value. Shape: Princess Depth: 68.7 Table: 67.00 Polish: VG Symmetry: G Culet: N Girdle: VTN-TK Fluorescence: N Measurements: 5.77*5.75*3.95

I prefer stones with a table 3-5% smaller than the depth. I just really like the numbers of that one and feel it will have the best crown %. The last stone you posted is a possibility, but I would feel REALLY uneasy with an VTN girdle (especially one that varies so much) because it could chip easily or break while being set. Do you know where it's really thin?
