Hey everyone, during my proposal speech, i would like to have some soft, sweet proposal music. But, i don't really have any good ones apart from "i do" from 98 degrees. Anybody have a proposal song or music that they used? or that someone else used? Please help a brotha out here. I appreciate it! Peace

my opinion, don't go with the 98 degrees (sorry to all of you 98 degrees fans) what kind of music does she like? i love jazz - how about coltrane? or will that make the mood too heavy? you can never go wrong with stevie wonder's "ribbon in the sky" right? i say, go with something classic. i love otis redding's "these arms of mine" -ariana

Sinatra....hands down. Regardless of age or taste in music, he's "The Man". try: "The Way You Look Tonight". It's a bit upbeat, but should work great. If that's not your style, try Eric Clapton "Wonderful Tonight" or anything by John Meyer

I'd have to vote for Sarah Vaughan... she's done some incredible stuff, and there's a lot to pick from. It ranges from earlier jazz into 60's type music, but she has an incredible voice through it all. A few romantic songs she's sung that I happen to have recordings of: (and some lyrics from each) * Thou Swell (swingy, but relaxed) Thou swell, thou witty Thou sweet, thou grand Wouldst kiss me pretty Wouldst hold my hand I'd feel so rich in A hut for two Two rooms and kitchen I'm sure would do Give me just a plot of, Not a lot of land And thou swell, thou witty, thou grand * Honeysuckle Rose (more uptempo swing) Every honeybee Fills with jealousy When they see you out with me I can't blame them, goodness knows, Honeysuckle rose When you're passing by Flowers droop and sigh And I know the reason why You're much sweeter, goodness knows, Honeysuckle rose * Embrace Me (very romantic, makes me melt, slow and cuddly) Embrace me My sweet embracable you Embrace me You irreplacable you Just one look at you My heart grows tipsy in me You and you alone Brings out the gypsy in me * I Love You (my recording is a duet, and has band backup. swingy) "I love you" Calls the April breeze "I love you" Echoes the hills (they go on to sing about love and spring) * Misty (slow and romantic) Look at me I'm as helpless as a kitten up a tree And I feel like I'm clinging to a cloud I can't understand I get misty just holding your hand Walk my way There's a thousand violins begin to play Or it might be the sound of your "hello", that music I hear I get misty the moment you're near

---------------- shaneyboy there's only one song "always and forever" by heat wave 1979,that tells you i'am a lot older than you are. it is always harder to find a "mind clean" stone than a eye clean stone. |

I love the Sinatra idea...he's timeless and you just can't go wrong. Another really touching song to make any women feel special is "She" by Elvis Costello - to be found on the Notting Hill soundtrack. It's very soft and moving. I think this would really set the mood. If nothing else, you should include it in the "after" music...?? ~Lisa

When my time comes, it will be "Give Me Forever" by James Ingram with John Tesh on piano. I've been dreaming of the woman I'd marry for 40 years. Well that's what women say anyway, they dream of their wedding day from the time they are little girls, but I've been waiting a long time too and I've listened to a lot of music over the years and watched many friends get married. This song is a marriage proposal in itself. It's times like this that I wish I could sing but I can barely carry a tune. The only reason I can think of that would make this song inappropriate would be for religious reasons since the "Lord" is mentioned once. And I know just how much you're a part of me I see you and I, together in life So there's nothing I wouldn't do, To make you my wife. (Chorus) Won't you give me forever to show all of the love I have here for you. And give me my reason for living To love you, I love you, I do. With this ring, I'm bound And I'll promise I'll never let you down. To family and friends and the Lord above. I'll swear I'll be true to you, And give you my love. (Chorus) Won't you give me forever to show all of the love I have here for you. And give me my reason for living To love you, I love you, I do.

I'm writing my own music. I figure it can't get any more personal than that. Are you musically inclined?

I like the idea of music without words - I think words can be distracting. Can anyone think of classic romantic music? Everything I'm thinking of is too sad. If you have to have words, I would go with... Enya (NOT Sail Away though), Sarah Machlachlan (Chocolate), or the Beatles (Something, And I Love Her, In My Life, or Here, There and Everywhere)
