I'm lost in an information wilderness and I'm sending a flare up. Here's a stone I've found at Abazias Princess Rect Mod Brilliant 4.45 x 4.21 x 3.36 0.51cts Depth 79.8 % Table 79% Girdle- Med-Thick Culet- none Polish- ex Symm- vg VS2- cloud, crystals F no flouro $1128 My question is when does the depth/table get too big. I've read that with a deeper stone you can get a bit more brilliance in RBs, but what about the square. GF does not want a big stone, likes the E-ring Grandma had. But I want a really shiny and 'purty' rock, cause you know how guys like shiny 'purty' things... Thanks for your input Ron |

Princesses tend to look better when they are square- Length to width ration below 1:1.05. Your stone has a ratio just over this. You should look at www.gemappraisers.com, as Dave Atlas has put together a great cut assessment tool for princesses. The general rules however are: Table should be less than the depth- ideally less than 70% or so. Depth should be less than 75%, and less than 70% if possible. Crown height- greater than 8%, ideally between 10 and 14%.
