Hi, I did a search on this topic but wasn't able to find anything as my question is pretty specific. My e-ring is has two "sides" that will make it difficult for my wedding band to line up flush against it. Do people "normally" go with an interlocking-type of fit with this OR just wear a matching band and have it line up as best as possible? I think I'd prefer just the band to line up as best as poss. in case I want to wear the band alone. I'm just wondering how common it is for bands not to fit EXACTLY up against the e-ring & if that possible little space between the two looks ok? I know it's really how I feel with it, but I'm just looking for input from anyone who has come across this. Thanks! |

This topic has come up in the past, but I can see how it would be a little difficult to run a search. I think the consesus around here is that it really just depends on what you like. There are some people with a bit of a gap between the rings, and others with rings that sit flush against each other. My rings are flush against each other and there is no gap between my e-ring and my w-ring. It's just a matter of taste and practicality. If your e-ring setting is such that another ring can be flush against it, and you don't mind having a gap, then that's how you should wear your rings. I don't think there's a hard and fast rule about this. Even if there was, who cares? You need to decide what you think looks nice.

I have friends who, because their rings cannot fit flush, wear one ring on each hand. Personally, when I picked out my e-ring setting, I did it keeping in mind that I wanted it to be able to sit flush w/ a w-ring. As much as I may have loved a certain setting, I knew it wouldnt be able to have a w-ring flush against it so I kept searching until I found what I did and am very satisfied with my two rings. What is your preference? Do you want to wear your rings together? Does a gap matter much to you (I knew it did to me)? It IS totally up to you and the look you want to wear. Good luck!

If you want to go really extravagant (or not, depending on what you choose) you can always get a wedding ring that curves around your engagement ring to wear with your engagment ring, and another straight ring to wear without it (like when you're working with your hands or hiking or doing whatever you would be doing without your engagement ring). I'm still not decided, but this is a possibility I'm considering. (especially as my hands are so small I'm not sure they would accomodate two non-flush rings!)

My fiance has that same problem as her e-ring curves at an odd angle. Solution: I'm getting the w-ring custom made to fit perfectly against the e-ring. Currently in the works.

Thanks for the feedback. I know it's up to me & what I think looks nice of course, but I was just looking to see how common this issue is. I'll probably end up trying to get a custom fit if I can. Thanks again.

I have an inherited set that features a custom band so that there is no gap. I have found that once it's on, the rings don't sit perfectly flush, since I'm always using my hands, and the rings shift around. I also have an anniversary ring that I wear with the engagement ring. They aren't perfectly flush, but the gap doesn't bother me. My rather convoluted point is this- unless the rings are soldered together, they are going to shift and not be perfectly flush.
