Hi....
I'm a rookie at all of this but a research fiend! I think I've found a decent performing stone but what about the price.
$8750 to $9000
1.29c AGS Ideal 0 G VS1
Table: 55%
Depth: 61.9% (isn't it a little sketchy that so many are just under 62?)
Crown A: 34.9
Pav A: 40.9
Crown H: 15.7%
Pav D: 43.1%
Polish: Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
Proportions: Ideal
Culet: Pointed
Girdle: Faceted (1% to 2%)...what does this mean?

Any input would be greatly appreciated, I don't mind giving the dealer a fair profit but how do I know what's fair?

-M

Did you try to use the price stats feature or diamond search for similar stones on this website??

It looks like it is a nicely cut stone, at a fair price. What are the diameter measurements on it? If they are 7.00x7.00x4.30, then the same diamond you're looking at is offered by five different pricescope vendors, with the price ranging from $9,200 to $10,100, so it looks like the price you listed is pretty competitive, even if they aren't the same exact stone.

The total depth is my only concern. 56-61% is where you want to be.

I think you might be thinking of table, not depth. Depth percentage is ideally 60.2-62.7. Table's are ideally 53%-57%... at least according to the AGS scale.

I think a 56% depth would be a bit shallow.

Yep this diamond looks pretty sweet from the numbers...did you get more info, pictures, reports on it? Depth is actually in a great spot, 56-61? That sounds VERY off! For the picky "ideal" cut searchers, table should be 55-57 and depth should be around 60-62.

Just out of curiousity, why the VS1? If you found a similarly cut and spec'd G but in an SI1 grade, you'd save some $$. I don't know if budget is an issue but as someone who used to have a G VS1 and gave it up to buy a better cut slightly larger H SI1...I am so happy with my decision. The color difference is negligible and clarity is totally not even an issue, my SI1 is eye clean and so was my VS1! Food for thought.

The measurements are 6.98 - 7.03 x 4.34

How do these effect the interpretation of the performace of the stone?

Isn't the larger diameter on a round supposed to be listed first, it's not on the copy of the cert I have.

Any ideas?

The measurements are fine. Magnum was just giving an example...a range such as the one you gave is not out of the ordinary and the average size IS 7mm. Looks good from specs.
