I have a classic tiffany style setting for my current ering. I am purchasing a larger stone and was going to put it in my current setting to wear with a wrap enhancer. Should I have the jeweler replace the head and prongs to ensure the metal has not been weakened or compromised? Also, the current metal is white gold for my prongs, should I upgrade to platinum? Thanks. ![]()

Hi, You will definitely need a new crown. Whether or not to go with platinum is a tougher question to answer. Maybe doing a search for "white gold" and "platinum" threads will help shed some light on this. Alternatively, many vendors will have educational areas on their websites that address this subject.
