check out this eternity ring from Signed Pieces

http://www.signedpieces.com/item.php?type=category&cat=21,19&ItemID=F727

The cost is much lower than other vendors I have asked for a quote. Tiffany wants $3150, ridiculous, but other people have given me a quote around $1850 for almost same exact ring!

Is there something I am missing here? Big price diff between $1850 and $1055

thanks

I bought my eternity band from signed pieces last year. It's pictured on page 4 of the forum E-Ring folder if you'd like to see it on a finger. I am pleased with my purchase and was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it was delivered. My ring size was 7.

I understand that stuff from Signed Pieces is mostly pre-owned, and that might account for the drastic savings.

Actually the ring Baltneu posted is brand new. The only problem is that there is no info on cut quality. I haven't read any posts so far of people unhappy with their purchases. Mine sure does sparkle!

i think michelle carmen got something from them too? Nicrez was in their store a few months back and said their stuff looked really beautiful in person. I have my eye on a few of their items as well...yanno on the list.

When you are talking diamonds that small....34 of them makes up around .82c that is about .025c each, they will just SPARKLE. Honestly, I have ACA melee .02c in my wedding ring vs .03c in my e-ring and they sparkle the same to me. They are so tiny that cut doesn't seem to really matter as much seemingly. Now if they were .05c or .10c...I'd be more concerned. But if the savings is THAT significant, at least check it out! You can always return it if it does not work.

Hey all,

Does anyone who has purchased from signed pieces know about the cut quality of their diamonds? They seem to have reasonable prices and people around here seem generally pleased. I've been looking at some of their rings and am interested.

Thanks,
Kate

Not to worry - I have just purchased a similar eternity band (but shared prong) for $950 in platinum in downtown LA. The price difference between yours and mine is due to my ring size being a 4.5, so less diamonds and platinum. The quality and size of my stones are comparable. Trust me, vendors will always make a profit, as I would expect them to.

I'm also interesting in purchasing from signed pieces to get a wedding band. I know the name brand stuff is pre-owned, but are the Facets jewelry pre-owned as well? I am thinking of getting a facets wedding band when we get married because they seem to be the best quality for the price that I can find on the net.

Yeah, I've been so tempted many times to purchase something from them. I believe most of the Facets items are brand new. I've hesitated because they don't say anything about the qaulity of the cut.

Regarding cut quality of signedpieces eternity and wedding rings I think it's the same as when you buy a diamond semi-mount. And no one seems bothered about the cut quality then. Unless you're getting WF melee of course...
Really it's a matter of cost- their prices seem reasonable. Heck even oldminer had a look at their site.

I just ordered a Facets ring from signed pieces... It was very beautiful -- but I ended up returning it because I decided to go with a better color grade.

Anyway, to answer your cut question --- I had the ring appraised independently and they determined the cut to be "fine" which is to say it was not ideal, but VERY close.

TIP -- They also sell their rings on ebay and from there you can look at a document which tells you what the cut is. It will either be Ideal or Premium. (mine said premium)

The ring was what it was represented to be, and appraised for more than I purchased it for.

just to clarify, Signed Pieces is the section of the website that are all brand new and designed by their in-house designer.  All other labels are actually pre-owned, like the Bulgari, Tiffany's, Cartier, etc...They auction them off, along with their new rings from the Signed Pieces collection.

If you don't find the size or type you are looking for, contact them, and have the designer make it for you, they do do that too.  It's true I have been to their shop and honestly, even their larger diamond bands, at .20cts each stone have looked great to me.  They are cut in a regular round brilliant pattern, so they may not be H&A, but when I asked them for their cutting specifications, I was lead to believe that they do not cut H&A, but all their stones, including melee are cut to the same standards as their solitaires, which are at the premium cuts of 2A on AGA charts (my approximation from their approximate numbers).  I can't say they are the caliber of ACA stones, but honestly, the cut is very very good, especially in the lower size stones, where they sparkle to high heaven!

I did get a chance to put my friend's Tiffany eternity next to theirs and I have to say that the difference was absolutely inperceptible!  If it didn't have the stamp and the price tag, you would have a tough time telling which sparkled more!  Even the ring setting quality was impressive, and I am hard to impress.  Again, depends on what type of eternity ring setting you prefer...I begged them to make my e-ring setting and sadly, they could not for copyright issues of my design being too similar to a Tiffany's.  Instead of the business, they chose to honor a copyright agreement they have with Tiffany's and so they had to decline (very nicely).

I can't always vouch for everything always, but from my experience, they are AMAZING!  and I WILL get my wedding ring from them.  Their prices are EXCELLENT, and honestly, I just adore their site and their work.  So two thumbs up for Signed Pieces.

Nicrez - thank you for your opinion. As most, I am apprehensive to buy when I don't know the specs on the cut and haven't seen the rings. You seem very educated about diamonds and I trust your opinion.

- Thanks for the advice

I love this site, I've been drooling over a few pieces, sadly that will have to be a project that is put on hold for a while.

HOWEVER, it doesn't hurt to look, and the prices are very reasonable.

Thanks for all the reply's.

Their ad says they are F-G color, and VVS-VS clarity. I also called the store and they said that if this ring gets sold, it would take 7-10 business days to make a new one.

Mara brings up a good point since the diamonds are so small, that since they are so small, they just tend to sparkle! Interesting.

I work in NYC so I may go over and look at it one of these days. The price looks very good, hope workmanship is OK, I just get a little concerned in terms of the old expression "if it is too good to be true.........."

Really the only thing you may have to think about is whether the eternity band will lie flush with your ering and if there is a gap- will it bug you? It certainly doesn't bug me and I don't mind wearing just the eternity band. The sparkle is amazing!
Go check them out since it's doable! I live in CA so that was out of the question.

I wanted to address some lingering questions about Signed Pieces and Facets.

I work for Signed Pieces. The following is not advertising but rather I would like to clarify a few things.

1.) Facets is our own brand of brand new jewelry created in platinum (PT950) and 18K gold using only collection-grade diamonds - E-F and F-G in color and VVS-VS in clarity.

2.) I noticed a lot of questions about cut. For round diamonds, Facets only uses Ideal and Premium cuts, which refers to a depth of 58.7% - 62.7% and a table of 58%-61% (Premium) or a table of 53%-57% (Ideal). For fancy cut diamonds, we only use ideal cuts.

3.) In effect, we have two companies in one -- Signed Pieces and Facets. Facets is all of our brand new diamond jewelry, including eternity bands, wedding bands, engagement rings and other pieces. Under the Signed Pieces name, which is how we started, we sell fine and estate jewelry from well-known makers such as Tiffany & Co., Cartier, Bulgari and Van Cleef & Arpels, from the secondary market.

We appreciate all the feedback we've seen here and I thank you for the opportunity to address this forum.

Thanks,

David Leventhal

Thanks David,

I've been to the website many times and was definitely considering an eternity band from signedpieces. I live in the Washington DC Metro area so going to NYC is not a problem. Thanks again for the info.
