1920'S TIFFANY & CO - MINERS CUT DIAMOND RING

EBEY4BONNIE Rough Rock Total Posts: 1 Last Post: 6/28/2004 Member Since: 6/28/2004	I have an old 1920'S Diamond ring that is marked TIFFANY & CO on the inside of the band. I was told by a jeweler that the center 1/2 carat diamond is a "Miners Cut", that the center diamond has no inclusions and that it is almost white. I had also been told by another person that the center diamond was European Cut. Unfortunately I don't know what the difference would be. Could you advise me as to what a "Miners Cut" is and what a European Cut means? I listed the ring for sale on eBay a few days ago and I am getting concerned that I did not put enough of a reserve on this beautiful ring. The jeweler also said the ten diamonds surrounding the center diamond measure six to eight points each. I have someone asking what points are and I am not sure exactly what a point is. BONNIE WILLIS

It is an indication of the relative age of the cut stone and the technology of diamond cutting during that period when it was performed.
