 		Platinum scratches very easily and looks old and worn much faster than white gold.

I prefer a 2 tone mounting with the shank in yellow gold and the stones on top to be set in white or platinum. I'd heard that platinum was much sturdier and looks nicer than white gold, however, I've also heard the above statement as well.

 		Hi Marqlvr,

Both platinum and white gold are plated with rhodium. When rhodium layer is scratched or worn out a ring will show the real metal color: grayish for platinum and yellowish for white gold.

I’ve also heard that people were surprised how quickly platinum rings are loosing their original shiny look.
