It is rectangular with two side stones and a platinum band.

A Tycoon is a branded stone, isn't it? I wonder if it has a standard markup? If so you pretty much have to pay the asking price.

(why did I think the center stone was 1ct? - this post changes allot!) With the revised stats in mind and having read both your posts... here goes my 0.2: There always is a premium on branded stones; yours matches the price of a round ideal cut with same color and clarity. This is not too bad - I would expect worse from a branded cut. Of course, I can only have a vague idea about the setting: above I assumed it would cost 3k to replace yours with simmilat quality. On the other thread you give 69% depth and 81% table on the Tycoon cut. well, this just means the stone looks quite large among rectangular cuts (it's nice to get anything beloe 70% depth among non-branded radiants and emerald cuts...). The table percentage would appear quite large for a traditional rectangular cut with the respective rectangular table. But the Tycoon has it differently. I think that the 80% measure represents maximum table width over total stone width - but the model of this cut implies that the "tips" of the table nearly touch the girdle, and that is the very spot where the measurement was taken. There is no way to judge this cut using rules of thumb made for traditional cuts. You could probably test it's overall brilliance somehow, but definitely not guess anything by numbers. The picture below shows what I was trying to say about the table percentage. Ana "The greatest experts are only as good as the sum total of what they have seen." [Souren Melikian] |

This is a picture of the ring from the tycoon website. The centerstone in 1.02 carat and the two side stone equal 0.5 carat for a total of 1.5 cttw. I also have a GIA certificate that has more specs. I am not sure what they all mean or which are the most important. I just posted what I thought was important. Would more info be needed to from a better opinon?![]()

---------------- Since there is no standard for the cut... no, more numbers would not add much. It would be nice to see an Ideal Scope picture of your stone. I am not aware wether any other Tycoon cut ever got such treatment ! Quite interesting to see how the shape compares (in terms of brilliance) with the traditional shapes ![]() Ana "The greatest experts are only as good as the sum total of what they have seen."
