Hi all, I'm buying a x-prong ring tomorrow for my regent stone and I'm wondering if they determine the head size based on the diagonal measurement or side to side? Would a 1 carat regent work with a 1 carat round brilliant Lucida setting? Thanks ![]()

The real dimensions you will be working with for the prongs are the diagonal measurements, not side to side. While this cut is symmetrical, the diagonals are longer that the widths. I suppose a Lucida cut head of the same approximate carat weight size will probably be a close fit for the Regent. What you need is a head formed to a squarish shape, rather than round. The undergallery should not be highly visible when the diamond is set. If the setting was for a round stone, then more of the underwires might show and not look so nice. David S. Atlas |
