HI After lots of worrying about whether or not to go for a tension setting for my engagement ring, my finace a nd I have decided to go for a tapered Niesing tension ring with a diamond that we chose ourselves. this had to be at least medium girth for the setting, and it has the following statistics on the GIA report. It is round briliant cut measures 5.21-5.28x 3.18mm weight 0.54 carat depth 60.6% table 60% Girdle medium, faceted Culet none Polish Very Good Symmetry very good Clarity VS2 Characteristics Crystal, crystal Color Grade D Without seeing the diamond, does this sound suitable and a good stone? What would have been a reasonable amount to have paid? |

Hi Jules1, Congratulations! I think you made an excellent choice in choosing Niessing. Their rings are beautiful and are very high quality. Just curious, which model did you choose? And if I may ask, how much are you paying for it? It is also good that you chose a diamond with medium girdle for the ring, and the faceted girdle will look more beautiful on a tension ring than an unfaceted one. Your diamond sounds good, looking at the numbers. Have you had a chance to look at it? VG/VG sounds good, but you should have a look to be sure. Hi I have seen the diamond and it looks lovely, very sparkly, but not being an expert it is difficult to tell. Any idea what I should have paid for it. The setting is the tapered one. I did like the oval but it looked too big on my hand unless I had it with a really tiny stone. I paid just over £1000 pouds stirling for the band at 3.7mm - probably more than Singapore prices I imagine?
