Wanted to list the specs of 2 diamonds I am looking at for an engagement ring. I was hoping (because I can't see them in person / out of state purchase) that based on the specs, someone could tell me if they are worth the price. And if so, which one would be a better choice. Both are GIA certified. Thanks for your help and please let me know if you need any more info for your response. Diamond 1 - $3,500.00 Round Cut - .90 carat 6.21 x 6.24 x 3.85 depth - 61.8% table - 54% girdle - medium, faceted cutlet - none finish - polish-exc. sym-very good clarity - SI2 / characteristics - crystal/cloud color - F Flourescence - None Diamond 2 - $3,400.00 Round Cut - .90 carat 6.14 x 6.16 x 3.88 depth - 63.1% table - 54% girdle - medium to slightly thick, faceted cutlet - none finish - polish-exc. sym-very good clarity - SI2 / characteristics - crystal/feather color - G Flourescence - Medium Blue Two main question spring to mind as well. What if the difference between no flourescence and the medium blue besides the obvious? And crystal/cloud vs. crystal/feather? Thanks again, B |

Info is not complete to tell if the cuts are good. We would need crown angles, pavillion angles, and crown heights. This is so that we can comment on the cuts of these to see which is better by the numbers. However, keep in mind that numbers can only tell part of the story. They go a long way to eliminating what is a possible dog of a stone, but they can only tell us so much as to whether to include this in the final choice. As far as mb fluorescence, it would be a wonderful choice in a G as fluorescence can make a diamond look whiter than it is graded. I have an I with mb fl. and it faces up quite white. See if you can get those numbers that we need from a sarin report, and post them so you can get more informed help. Shay ______________________________My therapist loves me. Thanks Shay for the input. I have the GIA certs in front of me but apparently they don't list the crown, pavilion etc on them. Would the jeweler who sent me these have that info? Or does that come from somewhere else? Thanks again, B

You are correct that GIA does not list that info. Ask the dealer if they can get sarins on those two stones. They should be able to. That is where you will get that info. Good luck Shay ______________________________My therapist loves me. His name is Brian the Cutter. |
