Hey, I just noticed on these.......what about stones from 1.50 - 1.99????  They aren't reflected anywhere.

Is there a reason they cannot be run/included?  It just seems to me that several folks are looking in the 1.5-2.0 range, and that would really meaningful info to give.

Wow. A 33% increase in a year for 3ct+. I wonder how long it can continue.

It is also interesting that the under 1.5s haven't moved much at all.

There seems to still be inventory for 2 - 2.25ctw, but almost nothing at 2.25-3. Do your numbers show a difference in the increase between 2 ctw and 2.25 or 2.5+ctw?  I'm curious about the lack of inventory above 2.25+.  Is that why the 3+ is going to much higher -- no inventory?  Would 2.25+ or 2.5+ be more dramatic without the 2ctw stones, which still seem to be available?

I posted this distribution of availability vs carat in another thread.

No, I haven't done corrections for carat sizes like 1.25ct or 2.25ct or 2.75ct. Obviously, such sizes are much more difficult to find and they can cost more per carat than, say, 1.0 or 2.0 correspondingly.

The problem with doing separate stats for such sizes is low number of listings and, therefore, higher statistical error.

Those spikes are really interesting to me. The "magic" carat numbers had no bearing on the diamond I choose but I sure must be in the minority!

Leonid,

Thank you for posting the location of this thread this morning. It is an interesting reread, especially since there were some substantial price increases in the larger stones this past few months...

I'm not completely colorblind, but I can't distinguish the colors in the chart or in the key, other than the blue and black. I'm sure that many others can, but I also assume that I'm not the only one who can't. Would it be possible to choose different colors and/or line styles to make it easier to read the chart?

Thank you very much for the useful information!
