Hi. Looking to buy a 1.6 carat, G-I, VS2-SI1, AGS 1A cut diamond from one of the vendors on this site. I see that the diamonds listed don't have pavillion and crown angles or %, only depth and table, which leads me to believe that the diamond was probably never graded, only estimated. How can I assure that I am getting the diamond that is promised, a AGS 1A cut? Is there a law against overstating diamond cutting specs, or am I on my own? What do I need to know to assure that I am getting a beautiful diamonds as specified?

That is why we recomend using an appraiser. What cert did it say? if it was AGS then it must be graded by AGS. Often people print a report from their own Sarin machine on say a GIA certed stone. That is not a bad thing to do, but it should be checked and confirmed. Garry Holloway FGAA DipDT |
