Do the L/W dimensions add/take away from the brilliance/fire/etc of a diamond. AGA says it should be in the range of 1.33-1.66: 1. So I guess what I'm asking is that if you had two oval diamonds identical in every aspect except that one was longer and narrower (ie. 9.61/6 = 1.60) and the other was squatier (ie. 9.12/6.16 = 1.48), which one would be preferred. Does one or the other cut tend to more light?

In a perfect world if you had 2 optimum cuts the shorter (imroves as you get closer to round) would out perfom, but it may not have as much shape appeal. Garry Holloway FGAA DipDT |
