I looked at a Lazar couple weeks ago. The salesman showed me a 1.25 E SI2 for $8000 that really lit up the room and I was impressed. Strange thing about LK is that their PAV degree for an ideal cut is 42.2-42.8 where other modern day ideal cut is in the range of 40.7-41 degree. On the other hand, he had some other ones in his showcase that looked dead. I have also seen couple of hearts on fire which didn't have very much fire. They want lots of money for it. So I guess it all depends on each individual stone; no matter the brand. Every brand claim they are the best cut in the world. I also have seen 8*s, their 8 arrows are definitely broader compared to other ideal cuts and you can tell with a naked eye.
it is always harder to find a "mind clean" stone than a eye clean stone. |

---------------- after three months, went back to the store and wanted to check out this E SI2 stone under the scope, but the salesman said it was sold. i probably wouldn't have paid $8000 for it anyway. it is always harder to find a "mind clean" stone than a eye clean stone. |

what was your impression of the overall fire and brilliance of the 8*? (what about vs. these other competitors?) (vs. a good HCA~1 stone?)

---------------- vtigger- I think the 42.2-42.8 refers to a percentage? I know this was discussed recently on another thread, but can't remember what the conclusion was... quaeritur |

---------------- Quaeritur yes, i think we came to a conclusion that their brochure must be a misprint. it is always harder to find a "mind clean" stone than a eye clean stone. |
