Can anyone help direct me to info on how to get a hold of some of the people who'll do independent appraisals that are mentioned on and are members of this site? Or ideas on who to use?

Thanks for your help!!

Well, it looks like Kiwi is in IN, and the site has no appraisers listed for her state.

If you are Ok with using some of the on-line appraisers that post here:

you can try Marty Haske, David Atlas, Martin Fuller, Richard Sherwood, Nancy Stacy. Those are the few that I got from this post that put some together for another poster HERE

Maybe if you repost and ask for an appraiser in IN if you want a local one. These online guys have some of the best repuations and also some of the best equipment...see what you are comfortable with. Good luck!!!

Thanks Nicrez! I actually clicked on that link but since there's no one in IN I wasn't sure where to go next.

I know I've heard the names that you mentioned and linked to in past threads. I just couldn't think of all of them.

I don't mind shipping it off to someone I heard about online. that's also how we'll be purchasing a diamond. Although we'll be going to see those in person.

Thanks for your help!

I hear that Sherwood guy is good in a pinch.

If you can catch him sober, that is.

Very funny!  Actually, Rich Sherwood is an excellent choice.  He wasn't local for me either (I'm in MA, he's in FL), but he did a fabulous job!

I assume you were sober when you did mine since they turned out so well. That's two days we can attest to out of the past year.

Jen -- Rich did a bang up job appraising my new earrings. Going with a non-local appraiser worked great since his eyes are more experienced than mine, and he produced a very thorough report.
