Ok - has ANYONE ever dealt with either the people at diamondexchange . ca or diacan . com?

I just happened to find them from links on here, and would be interested to know if anyone had personal experiences to share?

I'm also thinking of calling USA Certified. I know they have a place north of Toronto.

Help! Are there any reputable dealers up here that (gasp!) I don't know more than... and trust me, that's NO compliment!

This past weekend I was in Cartier and had to explain to the (although very beautiful) saleslady what an Assher cut was. Grrrrr But what a lovely 1.3 princess they had for like $27K. And no, the CDN dollar isn't THAT bad (any more!)

I totally feel like I will never find my diamond oasis up here.

Canada is kind of like a "diamond oasis" in terms of prices and quality which is kind of amusing considering that we're working with a lot of diamonds sourced by Rio Tinto out of the Diavik Mine right there in Canada

He he! There are lots of disgruntled Canadians on PS. Some found their diamonds all right. Did you try a search for "Canada" on the 'Rocky talky' forum ? You will find a few ways to deal with this and could PM the appropriate PS posters, if you find any case helpful

I'm Canadian and I personally used Good Old Gold. I was very pleased with this experience. Another Canadian a while back got a lovely diamond from USAcerted, and he was really pleased, too. I think that the title of his thread has something to do with buying a diamond in Toronto, so you could search it and it will come up. This might be a good option for you since they are in Toronto and you seem to want to shop locally.

If you're hesitating to buy online, stick around Pricescope for a while and all of your fears will melt away. Plus, the super ideal H&A stones around here really do outshine all the other diamonds, as demonstrated by the fact that even my Grandmother (who knows nothing about diamonds) can't stop staring at it when I see her, looking somewhat bewildered, and saying, "I've never seen as diamond sparkle like that one."

Also contrary to what you might think, the best customer service I found was online. NiceIce, GOG, and Whiteflash were all really nice to me and more importantly, up front about things. I wouldn't have hesitated to buy from any one of them. I researched all of these companies and was more than satisfied with what I came up with.

If you need any more Canadian related advice, I'd be more than happy to help.

I've heard USA Certed was quite good as well. Another place you can look for fun is Hollywood Jewellers on Yonge one block north of Eglinton. They are the first vendor in Canada that I've seen carry their own H&A viewer. It might give you an idea of what vendors in the area stock. I ran away pretty quickly though. He showed me a copy of his Rap report! That being said, USA Certed might be your safest bet if you don't want to shop online. Good luck!

I think I know that poor Cartier lady. She slips up on occasion and the more 'seasoned veterans' in the shop listen in and correct her from time to time. Poor thing! But she has been there awhile....
