I found a diamond through USA Certed Diamonds and am seriously considering buying this stone. Could I please get your opinions on the stone below. Also if you have any experience with working with usa certed could you please relay that info. ---------------- I can't comment on the cut. I don't know anything but RBs. I like the choice of I/SI1 w/ the med bl. fluor. What stands out as a possible negative is the swing from thin to thick girdle. Maybe others can chime in about the cut.

We contacted USA Certed when they had three diamonds we were interested in seeing but it turns out they'd sold them months ago & weren't taken off the system- so we went someplace else. I seem to remember reading a thread in which someone had went with them & was happy w the experience...? You can do a PS search & I'm sure you'll find some feedback. The cut looks nice but not entirely square (1.068)- yet should still look nice when set. My stone has similar dimensions as far as table & depth (62.x/70) & is supremely firey & brilliant. Please let us know how it goes!

Sounds great! Usually, square diamonds cease being 'perfectly square' at about 1.1 LxW ratio (you can check this using the "Fancy cut selector" at Gemappraiers.com - the reference shapes exagerate the non-squareness a bit, given the size of the drawing and the lack of 3D perspective and sparkle, but it is quite a useful exercise, I found). Also, it is not unusual for the girdle thickness to vary for non-round shapes, since the outline is not continuous - the variance occurs when the girdle line turns corners - most often. If the corners turn out with a thicker girdle than the rest - all for the better. This one has all the chances to be a great stone Ana "The greatest experts are only as good as the sum total of what they have seen." [Souren Melikian] |

The table and depth look good. But as has been pointed out, the girdle variance and L:W ratio throw this princess off a bit. Check out the Cut Charts at www.gemappraisers.com. You can also use the DIY Cut Grading System to rate the cut of diamonds you are considering. Just click on DIY on the left hand tool bar, select Princess cut, and enter the specs to help screen as you shop.

Upstech, I just received my ring yesterday. The stone was purchased from usacerted diamonds. Martin was very easy to work with and gave me a great suggestion for where to get my setting. I have had a couple of questions (loose end type stuff) yesterday and today, and he was just a sweetie about taking care of details. This was more than a month after he had made the sale and had my money. I would not have a problem working with him again in the future. I don't know anything about princess cuts so I can't help with that question. I will start my own thread tonight (after I learn about posting pictures which are sitting in my digital camera as we speak) so that everyone can see my new sparklee. ![]() Shay ______________________________My therapist loves me. Martin suggested that I let Chris at D. Atlas (which was who was doing my appraisal) take care of getting my setting done. He had a guy do a hand-made (as opposed to cast) royal crown type setting in 18k yellow gold with a platinum head. It's gorgeous! Still trying to figure out posting pics so look for my thread in the next few days in show me the ring. Shay ______________________________My therapist loves me. His name is Brian the Cutter. |

Depending upon the details you are looking for with regards to optics (brilliance/fire/scintillation) the information is inconclusive. It is impossible for a retailer to tell you how beautiful or not a diamond is when they can't see it. I'm sorry if this is not the answer you were seeking but it's the honest answer.

Hey - be careful! I looked at 16 rings at B&M's - all trying to sell me on specs alone.....just doesn't work if you are looking for an awesome Princess....took me months to learn and I now have what I sought. If you'd like, check out my response to ROB79 in his thread on princess....you may find something of value there. Good luck!
