I stumbled across this forum while searching for more information on diamond grading and pricing. So far it's been a very informative, very interesting read. *Especially* on Ebay buying

I spoke to a local ?reseller? in Rochester and received the some instructions, specifically to go look at diamonds and get a feel for what I liked. I've visited your mall variety stores (don't worry, I won't buy there) and will have to obviously invest in my own tools to look at the stones with. I know I have a 20x loupe somewhere from my photography equipment; otherwise the 10x will have to do.

I've got to admit that I've been completely floored by the number of options and just the sheer quantity of stones out there. I was given an SI1 (after I said VS2 or better) yet couldn't detect the flaw, until I turned the stone sideways and saw it as scattering an immense amount of light down the outside f the stone.

I'm perusing the list of internet vendors that have been posted in good faith in hopes that a few have something I'd like. Abzias is one I've been in contact with so far- the one stone that caught my attention is apparently part of a pair that won't be separated, so it's back to look some more.

If anyone would care to offer up their personal choices of vendors, I'd love to hear it, especially if you have a reputable contact.
