Hi all! I've read through the site and just started looking. I am looking to spend $12k - $14k for a RB stone in the 1.7-1.8ct range. I was wondering if the experts could comment on the value of the following two stones: Stone #1: Carat weight: 1.69 Cut: Ideal Color: H Clarity: VS2 Depth %: 61.0% Table %: 57% Crown Angle: 34.4 Pavilion Angle: 40.5 Symmetry: Ideal Polish: Ideal Girdle: Medium to slightly thick, faceted Culet: None Fluorescence: None Measurements: 7.66x7.69x4.68 mm Price: $12k Stone #2: Carat weight: 1.82 Cut: Ideal Color: H Clarity: VS2 Depth %: 60.5% Table %: 56% Crown Angle: 35.2 Pavilion Angle: 40.6 Symmetry: Ideal Polish: Ideal Girdle: Thin, faceted Culet: Pointed Fluorescence: None Measurements: 7.93x7.96x4.81 mm Price: $14k Do either/both of these offer a good value for the price? Also, if you are able to suggest alternatives based on my specs and price range I'd appreciate it! I am looking primarily at H-VS2 and G-SI1. Thanks again! -Ron |

Both look like great performers. It's a win/win decision between these 2! The 1.8 will have a larger visual appearance. As an alternate, I found you an 1.754, H, SI1, with a very clean looking Cert Plot priced at $12348. http://www.dirtcheapdiamonds.com/diamond_detail.cfm?did=6946082 Good luck!! Tough choice!!
Why use a big word when a diminutive word would be succinct! |

They are both AGS-certified...if it's high, do you have any alternatives to recommend? Thanks!

Hmm I don't think the pricing is high at all.
I personally like the numbers on the first stone a little better but both should be beautiful!!
PQ's option is very nice as well, kind of a bigger size and less on clarity, if its eye clean it would be a great deal. I prefer SI's if it lets me get a similar well-cut stone for more carat weight and same price.
Good luck and great eye!

Other options. Note the 2nd VS2, very similar to your first stone and its almost same price.
1.74 H SI1 AGS0 $11170
and
1.62 H VS2 AGS0 $11700
and
1.65 H SI1 AGS0 $10200 (Pscope price): check out that IdealScope! ________________________________ |

I am leaning towards the first stone. Here's the cert. Any additional comments? Does the fact that the inclusions show up only on the bottom view of the diagram mean they are not at all visible from the top?![]()

The crown pavilion angles on the above stone are 34.8 and 40.9 and it scores a 1.7 on the HCA. Is that too high? Decent cuts in the 1.7-1.9ct range have been hard to find and this seems like a pretty good price, so I don't want to pass it up if it will perform. Thanks for your help guys! -Ron

The angles look good and the HCA is a very good score. Price is nice too. Seems like a winner if you feel that it is a good purchase. Have you seen it in person? Can you get pictures, Scope images, anything to finalize?

I've been hornswaggled! Despite the fact that we put Whiteflash put the stone on hold for me, the wholesaler sold the 1.88 to someone else! Back to the drawing board...

yes these sizes sell fast these days,my advise is that you choose 3 stones that are to your likings, just in case the first ones are sold, and check the web.

Disappointing!!
Are you still checking into the 1.74 at NiceIce?
Also, WhiteFlash has added new inventory recently to their round ideal cuts...some nice stuff.
One that was catching my eye was an ideal cut 1.84 J VS2 stone with medium blue fluor. Brian said it faced up pretty darn nicely...I expect that the medium fluor and excellent cut is probably making it a light I. I would get more information on it and it's inhouse. Oh and its something like $8800.

---------------- Yes... this is what the diagram tries to say. Some may want the girdle "thin" but I would not consider this a major detraction. Souds like a nice stone to me ![]() And here are two intriguing finds at Abazias: Stock #7086022 AGS0 1.73 H SI1 $10,559 cert:AGS Stock #2312881 H&A 1.90 G SI1 $14,514 cert:AGS And at Dirtcheap ![]() Stock #6946082 AGS0 1.75 H SI1 $12,348 cert:AGS (HCA 1.9) and my winner would be: Stock #6937316 AGS0 2.19 F SI2 $16,145 cert:AGS (HCA 1 !) All I can see in the magnified picture of this one are some awesome arrows and a couple of specs near the girdle... at 10 o'clock. Tempting ?
