Jonathan at Well Adorned is making my boyfriend and I a micropave halo engagement ring (think Harry Winston style) for our cushion diamond as well as a matching wedding band.

We have lurked and planned and researched and photoshopped for so long...and we now have our first round of CADs from Jonathan (and are so very excited!) We are having the design changed just ever so slightly from these CADs, but I couldn't wait any longer to post them!

We've ordered the ring and wedding band in a size 6, as my finger size fluxuates between a 5.75 and a 6.

Pictures of our center stone can be seen here: http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=119038

I'll re-post the specs:
GIA 2.1 carat L VS2 Cushion Modified Brilliant with VSB flourescence.
7.84 x 7.35 x 4.63 mm.
55% table, 63% depth.
Very Good Polish, Good Symmetry

The stone has a 1.07 ratio

I tried to resize my photo...let's see if it worked!

That looks really good!  In case you were wondering the CAD images often turn out looking a little less polished than the final product. Meaning, that the sharp edges aren't quite as pronounced and the diamonds stand out more.  Which is a good thing!!

Also, have you considered having Jonathan curve the legs/arms holding the basket?  I really liike the straight look, but I've also seen this design with slightly rounded legs.  I think it looks great both ways, but that's just something to take into consideration.

What a great design!  I'm positive you and your boyfriend will be excited with your final product.  That design looks really good with cushions; especially BIG cushions like yours.  You must be quite the catch :)

Nice design but not exactly like HW which has a donut underneath forming the bottom of the cathedral. Your design will allow the wedding band to sit a little more flush against the ring. If you want to mirror the HW look make sure the diamonds are large enough to go to the edges of the shank and the halo and very little metal is showing.

Good-Luck my Fiance loves her ring which is also a copy of HW.

Thanks so much for posting your CADs, CCL!

We intentionally designed it so the wedding band could sit as flush as possible while still keeping the super dainty 1.8 mm width.  I will confirm with Jonathan that we will see more diamonds and less metal on the finished product.  I know CADs sometimes exaggerate the metal a little, which is why I'm so thankful that you posted your CADs as a comparison.

My fiance's ring shank is 1.9-2.0mm. From the calculation they were 1.4 pointers(but there is some error in determining the size). I hope this information might be of some help, but a lot of this depends on the skill of the setter, and how much they polish the metal on the outside of the shank, and if you request no metal on the outside of the diamonds on the halo and on the shank.

CCL, that's very helpful- thank you!
Also, I did a search for photos of your fiance's ring and wasn't able to find it.  I'd love to drool over it...have you posted in Show Me the Ring?  If yes, can you help me out with a link?  And if no, might some prodding from me convince you to do so ?
