Well, I think I found it! It fits in my range, and has the stats I was looking for:

AGL
Cut Grade: AGS Ideal
Light Perf: AGS Ideal
Polish: AGS Ideal
Symmetry: AGS Ideal
Color Grade I AGS 2.5
Clarity VS2 AGS 4
Ct: 1.460

Pav Angle: 55.3
Depth: 60.7

7.38 x 7.39 x 4.49

I REALLY need some advice on this one. It was just recently re-cut to get the AGS000.

And now the images!!!!!!!!!!!

It looks good. Question. Is this being sold as a H&A diamond?

No, it's not sold as a "Hearts & Arrow" diamond as part of the marketing. It was actually just re-polished to achieve a AGS000 and just got back to the jewelers.

H & A is nice, but not a deal breaker for me. Would this qualify as a H & A?

Think it is good enough to order and check out in person?

Not by the majority of vendors who sell them around here. And if it had been advertised as such, I personally would not want to pay the H&A premium for such a stone.

However, they are not necessary for a diamond to be pretty either, so yes, I think you should have a look at it! BTW, that size is great.

It is against forum policy to link to outside images.

Ditto, Stone.

But if you didn't pay for H&A, you like the way it looks, and it was priced right, you got a very nice stone.

Thanks for posting the images, I didn't know how to.

So I guess it's safe to say that all the images check out ok and it would be worth it ordering and looking at it in person (they have a 30 day money back policy).

The price is 7000 - 7500. Reasonable?

Also, it was a 1.3 on the HCA. Do you think this would be in the (very large) ballpark of maybe a Tiffany?

I don't know exactly what you mean about Tiffany, but if you are asking if this stone is similar in quality to what Tiffany sells, I would say yes, this is a high quality stone graded by a well-respected lab.

It is what I would call " near h&a", it doesn't pass for h&a as we see them here, but it looks like a very nice diamond and if you aren't bothered about having a picture perfect h&a then well worth consideration.

Thank you for the images SC, very helpful!

SaraP, yes that is what I meant. Tiffany has excellent diamonds, but I do believe them to be overpriced. Would this be a reasonable alternative that
would be similar in quality to something that you may find at their store?

I'm not looking for a H&A diamond specifically. I don't think I could afford one in the size I am looking for within my price range.

My girlfriend, like many other people, hold Tiffany as the gold standard. I'm looking for something that could compete.

Thank God for this website and forum. I really don't know what I would do without it. (Probably pay twice as much for a stone that isn't half as nice at the mall).

I'm 99% there. Any other opinions?

This one could I believe, great example of a near h&a which should compare very favourably.

You already have mine, but I just wanted to reassure you that it looks like a very nice diamond. As for being on par with Tiffs, it is definitely on par with some of their diamonds, and above par on others. Their cut parameters are not extremely strict, we've seen some not so hot diamonds from them. So rest assured, you've done well here.

One thing I forgot to add...it had to be re-cut a few times to achieve the 0 in polish, and it has a bruted girdle.

Would that still affect it?

Would I be better off gambling on this diamond from Bluenile that scored a .6 on the HCA, but doesn't have the idealscope, etc.???

How did you know that it was re-cut a few times? Who told you that?

Who graded this stone? If you can't provide the link, provide the report number at least.

Need the numbers to know how you get that HCA score.

It was re-cut by a jeweler, and was regraded by AGS with the new certificate that was posted. I originally was interested in it prior to it being re-cut, and when I requested more info, the seller told me it was being re-cut for the AGS0. The number on the report is AGS 01040369040001

Sorry, forgot to add the angles for the BN diamond: 35.3, 40.5, 61.7 depth, 56.1 table

I mean the BN stone.

Nothing wrong with the original stone being recut to a AGS0.

Oh sorry.

Here is the link to the BN: http://www.bluenile.com/round-diamond-1-carat-ideal-cut-i-color-vs2-clarity_LD01506697#grading_report

And the HCA:

Selected: 61.7% depth, 56.1% table, 35.3° crown angle, 40.5° pavilion angle
The result is for a symmetrical diamond with a medium girdle and very good polish
HCA scores were adjusted Dec. 15, 2001 and Feb. 6, 2003.

Factor Grade
Light Return Excellent
Fire Excellent
Scintillation Excellent
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 0.6 - Excellent
within TIC range
Click here to read usage warnings and information.

This diamond actually popped up late last night and caught my eye. Of course, BN doesn't provide anything else except the certificate, which makes it very inconvenient.
