I am overwhelmed with honeymoon choices! We are getting married in the Caribbean (just immediate family though) in a few months and decided we would take a "real" honeymoon in February/March.  We love to travel and in my fiancee's industry it can be hard to get away for too long, but honeymoons are usually the exception.  Here are my inital thoughts- if anyone has suggestions please let me know!  We would like to somewhere warm, pretty, but have a more 'active' honeymoon.  We had a great vacation in egypt since we we did sightseeing, then a few days relaxing in sharm el shiek, then more sightseeing.  But I don't want to go to say, the Maldives, and just lie on the beach for a few days.

1) Southeast Asia- some combo of Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.  This seems to work with the February time frame and aside from airfare from NY, relatively cheap.  I am scared Thailand might be touristy

2) Malaysia (and maybe some of Thailand).  Supposedly it's less visited than Thailand but as worthwhile?

3) New Zealand - maybe a stop in fiji or tahiti, but it looks to be rainy season

4) South Africa/Cape Town/Victoria falls/safari?  February isn't a great time for safari and the safaris i've seen are pretty pricey, but I think it would be fun

5) Southern Argentina then Brazil- glaciers then beaches

thanks for any ideas or opinions!

I would add Bali to the list!!  I had an amazing honeymoon there and you can be really active or just relax, plus it is very reasonable.  The only negative is we want to go back so bad!!

I was considering Bali but it looks like Jan/Feb/March are the worst times of year to visit   What was there to do there aside from beachy activities?

I vote New Zealand or Malaysia. What about Europe? We went to the Amalfi Coast and it was incredible!

Europe is out because it's way too cold in February.  We want to escape winter!

I am getting ready to go to South America for my wedding (in 10 days!), but through all our research, it seems to have the best climate year round for non-tropical locations, though a significant portion of SA is tropical. Argentina is always going to be cool, and can be downright cold in the South, but I hear it is breathtaking. We chose Ecuador (between Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, and Ecuador) because we liked the climate and the activities best, so I feel biased, but it seems great (and is crazy cheap).

We were deciding between South Africa and South America, and decided on Argentina and Chile. We were really close to doing South Africa, but in the end, South America seemed cheaper and easier. Though we are doing a very extended trip so our circumstances are a bit different.

i would definitely do the southeast asia! as for thailand, there are a lot of non-touristy-crowded places you could go to.

YES, take it from me. Winter in Europe is bloody COLD, especially where I'm from. In fact, it's getting wintery already. It was so windy today and it's starting to get dark earlier too .

I would vote for anywhere hot, sunny and romantic like Mauritius or the Maldives. I hear Malaysia is nice

I lived in Thailand for 2 years, and it is an AMAZING country to visit! Beautiful beaches, delicious food, and rich culture. I've been to Malaysia as well, but didn't get a chance to see much outside of the city.

Since this is PS, I'd also mention that Thailand has very well known gem markets, and even if you aren't comfortable buying in that setting, it's still really fun to see!

My vote is either Southeast Asia or New Zealand.

Southeast Asia, like you said, is expensive to get to but pretty cheap once your there. Thiland has all the beachy stuff but I'm sure there's also a bunch of adventures to be had in a country like that. I think that would be great but at that time of year, scorching hot.

I have to vote New Zealand because I live there......but other then that it's another place with a bit of everything. Plenty of beaches to chill out on and beautiful things to see, big citys to explore but also tones of adventure things if you're into the outdoors, both touristy and not. And may I also say the locals are all very friendly . And Feb/March would be perfect tropical weather without it being too painfully hot as it would likely be in SE Asia at that time of year. And like you said, close to fiji and other tropical islands or even Australia for a stop over on the way there or back. If you went for more March then Feb also you wouldn't be there in school holiday time so everything would be alot less busy.....not that a New Zealand version of busy compares to an American one but you know what I mean.
