Smurfyimproved Ideal Rock Total Posts: 723 Last Post: 11/20/2009 Member Since: 5/9/2009	So I went in for my first fitting and was told that my shoes aren't HIGH enough! I believe they are a 3 inch heel and I'm not normally a heel girl so I'm having a bit of a panic. My next fitting is the first weekend in september so I need the new shoes by then...I'm looking for something in blue or white with a platform I think, preferably that I can try on in person (hence the denver in my title...) If you know of anywhere good or have seen anything, please let me know!!! I'd be devastated if someone told me I had to wear shoes that high. Perhaps you need a new seamstress? I can give you a good recommendation for someone in Arvada.

But I have a two suggestions. I remember you didn't want to spend a fortune on shoes, and both of these stores are pretty budget friendly. 1- DSW in Park Meadows. 2- Nine West Outlet Store at Castle Rock Outlets

A 3 inch heel is quite significant, not many people can function well in a heel height higher than that. If I remember your dress correctly, there wasn't a lot of detail from the bottom that would be lost in hemming, right? Could you post a pic of your dress again? I just can't see why you wouldn't be able to wear your current shoes...

Off Broadway Shoes is huge (on the west side of the mall) and should have quite a few fall platforms in. I saw some gorgeous cobalt blue platform pumps at Aldo in Cherry Creek the other day, but they were probably in the $100 range, I'm guessing. Let your seamstress know that even if you wear five-inch heels, it will not make you five inches taller (because of the slope of your foot and the angle at which it sits). There will be a difference between five-inch heels and three-inch heels, but I don't think it will be enough to save all the embroidery on your hem. Anything over a five-inch heel is usually in the lucite, lady-of-the-night style (I know this after much searching for my own five-inch-heeled bridal shoes!)--nothing like the gorgeous shoes you have already. Also, are you used to wearing very high heels? I wear almost four-inch heels daily, and four- to five-inch heels when I go out, and if you don't have a lot of practice walking, standing, and dancing in your shoes, you are in for a miserable wedding day, and no one wants that!

Currently these are my three options: -Detach the bodice and skirt and hem from the top down. Since it is an a-line drop waist I would need to come back for a third fitting which requires a 200 plane ticket and would be the weekend before fi and i move into our new place :) -Add more crinoline. We currently added an extra skirt of crinoline and it was suggested to just poof it out more until it is the right length. Which is fine, I don't mind poofy-ness :) -Grin and bear 4 inch heels ahhhhhhhh!!! I imagine you paid a deposit by this point, but finding a local CO seamstress/tailor would (maybe) save a lot of money (no more plane tickets!) Unless you've already purchased the ticket for fitting #2, that is. And, as I've recently discovered, shipping a dress/taking a dress on a plane isn't a hassle at all. Shipping the gown from ND (that's where you're from, if I recall? Sorry if that's incorrect) and finding a new seamstress close to where you live NOW might actually save money in the long run. I'm not a seamstress and won't ever claim that I am, but I know that a really talented seamstress can do juuust about anything to change a wedding gown. I think that hemming from the top-down is the best option here, and I'd suggest doing it locally. As in CO locally. Or putting up the money and taking a third trip to wherever your dress is located, even if it's bad timing. It would be terrible to A) be tripping over your dress all night because the crinoline starts to settle and "deflate" or B) have horribly sore feet Hope you find a solution that works best for you, though!
