I'm looking for an ideal cut H&A diamond and have been using the Holloway cut advisor to help compare the stones. I  notice that several stones rated as AGS Ideal - even diamonds claimed to be 'true hearts and arrows" - don't actully fall within the AGS ideal range on the chart. Is this normal? Are the grading criteria somewhat subjective?

I'm confused... but what else is new!

Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim,

This happens sometimes and isn't necessarily an issue, can you post all the details, depth, table and so forth so we can take a look for you?

Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. When a horse dies, the memory lives on because an enormous part of his owner's heart, soul, very existence dies also...but that can never be laid to rest, it is not meant to be...

Sure.

Here are two I'm looking at from James Allen:

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1255581.asp

Depth: 60.8%
Table: 56.7%
Crown Angle: 33.7°
pavilion Angle: 40.8°

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1255580.asp
Depth: 61.8%
Table: 56.6%
Crown Angle: 34.5°
pavilion Angle: 40.9°

I just found it interesting because all the other H&A diamonds I've looked at have always fallen within the AGS ideal range. I thought it peculiar that these two from James Allen do not.

AGS0 cut grade is performance based, sometimes you find the proportions will get a stone to hit just outside the AGS box which isn't an issue, if the images check out and it has the AGS0 cut grade then thats what matters.  Both diamonds look good!
