hi girls! don't know if we have any LV brides out there but i seriously need some tips.

FI & I are going there for a short vacation and we're having our engagement photos done while there. can you give some suggestions of places where we could do the photoshoot? i'm not from there so i only know of the strip and that's about it. i found a couple of photos online where there were a TON of old big LV signs (looks like a junkyard) which looks really cool but have no idea which part of LV it is!

hope someone out there could help me out!

thanks in advance!

if you go down Las Vegas Blvd. a mile or so past the strip going south, you can take pictures in front of the famous "welcome to las vegas" sign. They have parking and everything now.

just to warn you, my parents were in vegas last weekend and it was so hot they decided to cut their trip short, i would keep that in mind when deciding what to wear for the photos and the location of course

you could always try the oceans eleven scene in front of the bellagio fountain

I'm getting married in Vegas and I'm a local. The place you are talking about with the old signs is http://www.neonmuseum.org/ You have to pay to use the park for pics. I believe it's around $100-$150. Many photographers in the area are familiar with it. You may also want to do a strip tour where you visit many locations up and down the strip for pictures. Most photographers offer 2-3 hour packages. Do you already have a photographer?

I'm an LV bride getting married at Mandalay Bay in January 2010, and I'm in Vegas right now. Let me tell you, I have been to vegas in May and september before, but never August, and I will never come again, with the families, the scantily clad college kids, and the heat--I'm from New Mexico, so somewhat used to dry heat, but the ten degrees makes a HUGE difference. I have never sweat so much after the sun has gone down.so unless you're ok with extreme heat, and no privacy, I would really reconsider *ugust for getting married in LV. (We saw some people who had just tied the knot getting some pictures taken at Mandalay, and they had a crowd of about 300 people around them gawking like they were an attraction. I felt so bad for then trying to look intimate and romantic with all of these people around...)
.Ore later when I'm not trying to post from my blackberry.

thanks everyone! i forgot to mention that we're going there in September! so based on your reaction -- thank goodness it'll be September! hihi

FoxyBride: haven't booked any photographer yet. any suggestions? how 'bout make-up? i searched online and found a MAC store near our hotel so i'm thinking of going there to get a make-over and just buy make-ups that i need. hehe

FrekeChild: thanks for the heads up! we were supposed to go in August but thank goodness we had to reschedule! i don't deal well with too much heat!

Hello, Ladies...im not a LV bride, but im a LIW and im a local to las vegas. Born and Raised. It is extremely hot here in the summer months, June, July and August, so that is something to keep in mind. We start to cool off around September, and October is very nice here. I love it. So you will want to keep in mind what the temps are like for your pictures. Maybe play with it and have some fun with it.

Now some locations for photos for your engagement would be Red Rock Casino. Its a very pretty casino, and have a lot of great places to take pictures. In the confence area they have lots of browns and blue hues, and couches. They also have a great lounge and bar area in the middle of the casino and its all red, and has a to die for chandelier. So that might be an option.

If you dont mind the drive, you can go to Lake Las Vegas. Its actually as it sounds, A man-made Lake, not too far out of Las Vegas. The hotel and grounds are lovely. The way they have it set up, it looks like a small village, right on the water. There are cobblestone streets, stores, flowers, and lots of walk ways. Not to mention the Lake, with houses in the backdrop. I love it there. During the winter months, they freeze part of the water for ice skating and hot chocolate. **Side note, if you can make it out there, go. Its different and very pretty. Also, they have a excellent candy shop, that makes the chocolate right there.

Also, speaking of lakes, you could go to Lake Mead, and take pictures by our ever-shrinking lake! There are so pretty areas around that way, and its a national park. Actually, there is a part towards the back and they have pretty cliffs and water. Its the perfect backdrop like in a movie!

Also, another great choice is Mount Charleston. Its very nice and coll up there. There are many trails and you can find streams and things there. I have been up there for headshots, and the natural light is the best! Also, i dont know if you and your Fi would be interested in doing this, but maybe take up some shorts and take some fun pics in a stream, like your wet and playing together. I love when couples show a softer, real side to them

So, theres a few options, not sure if it helps, but there is some, i could list so many and keep going but il stop.

~I need more than a lifetime to love you

Hi Cleo...i just responded to your similar post from July before I found this one. I am going to be in Las Vegas in September as well to have my engagement photos taken! Usually, when we stay on the strip I have my makeup done for going out at the MAC in the Nordstrom at Fashion Show Mall. This is the mall right on the Las Vegas Strip. I just hop in a cab and tell the driver to take me to the Nordstrom at Fashion Show mall, it is a short ride from most of the hotels on the strip, and I am always happy with my make up!

Also, any locals who can recommend a good salon (off the strip) to have my hair and makeup done for my engagement shoot??? My photographer recommended the salon in Caesar's Palace...and it is WAYYYY to pricey!!
