Kay jewelers made me cry
Sloppy channel work

So... after being fed up with the craftsmanship at Kay jewelers, and dealing with the sloppy channel on my ring for a few years now, we decided to upgrade to a nicer setting. We found one that looked nearly identical to my current one, but it looks more substantial and well made.

It arrived today and I LOVE IT... except for one thing... while the channels on this one are MUCH better than my old one, I still am unhappy with the spacing from one side to the other. So, I called and spoke to a very nice woman at customer service who told me to send the ring back and they will use the same stones to a make a brand new one. She also told me she would put a note in the service order that I am a perfectionist and to not bother sending it out if it isn't perfect.

Below are the photos of my "old setting still containing my Leo diamond", and the "first draft of my new setting". We did not know the side stones would be larger... but its a nice added bonus because it sparkles sooo much more than the old tiny stones!

What do you all think? I thought about just keeping it, but I didnt want the uneven channels to bother me in a few months, so i am fixing it. But I think it will look really nice...

That looks so much better! I think you'll get what you want this time, and I think it's so nice you found a setting similar to your original.

Beautiful! Your new setting is so much better in quality. Very, very pretty and I love the bigger stones that seem more sparkly.

Very nice...I cant believe that you found such a similiar setting (and with bigger stones!!!)  I personally dont see what
you are talking about with the spacing but I trust you!  Hope it comes back perfect!

~~~Thanks to PS, my wants far exceed my budget!~~~
Thank you guys!
tyty, if you look at the top two photos... they are the two different sides of the ring. The left side image has spaces between the diamonds, and the right side image has the diamonds touching. I would like the left side image to match the right side image.
PS- I wanted to add... "we did not know the sidestones would be larger" because when we bought the setting years ago we were told that the tcw for the setting was 0.25 and we believed them!!! Imagine our surprise when we saw the new setting and saw what 0.25tcw should have looked like!!!! Just another example of maul stores
I'm glad you found a near identical ring. You'll be much happier with it.
I am experiencing concern over the channel work on my own reset. I am taking it in for resizing ready for my wedding in a few weeks and will mention my concerns to them. It is uneven on one side and the metal work is sloppy on one side. Hopefully they can fix it in time for the wedding.
It DEFINITELY looks better!! It was a gorgeous design from the beginning, but the sloppy work took away from the look. It is FANTASTIC now!!
Huge improvement - and it looks just like the old one except much new and improved!
So glad you were able to find this setting - can't wait to see it tweaked and finished.
Yay for you!!
Amy, the new setting looks so much better in terms of quality.  The sidestones seem much bigger, brighter, and clearer.  Congrats!    I'm so glad you said goodbye to Kay!
I got the diamond set into the new setting, with the channel stones moved even closer together.
I posted it in SMTR:
