 		I have absolutely no diamond knowledge, but am looking at an engagement ring. The stone I am considering is:

Cut: Princess - depth 73 table 77
Size: 1.38 carat
Color: E
Clarity: VS1
Cost: $8,000

Is this a good deal? Also does anyone know of a good place in Chicago to get an independant appraisal?

If diamond is as represented, price is not bad. Is there any grading report for this diamond?

I just did a quick search and got for GIA graded princess diamonds:

1.30 E VS1 63.7% 73% GIA $7188
1.33 E VS1 70.5% 80% GIA $7355

 		Thanks Leonid. The diamond has a GIA grading report, but the information I posted is all that I currently know. The seller is offering a 30 day, any reason, 100% refund--the way I see it, as long as I can get a reliable appraisal within those 30 days I really have nothing to lose, do you agree?
