I am looking at a 1ct RB I SI1 stone with blue flourescence. HCA score is 1.4, here's data: depth% 62.3 table% 55 crown 34.5 pav 40.8 Now from what I can tell, my girlfriend prefers diamonds with more fire and scintillation over straight brilliance, she seems to like the more active look. If I understand the Holloway chart correctly a smaller table usually means larger facets which is where the fire and scintillation come in, so these would be good numbers for that correct? I believe the blue flourescence is a plus for us also, as blue is both of our favorite color and it might help negate the I color some? So does ~4k seem like a decent price for this stone? Thanks! |

Smaller table can aid extra fire but best if it is combined with a steeper crown angle. You can find a type of diamond called a fiery ideal cut ( FIC) which typically have a smaller table, steep crown angle and pavilion angle of no more than 40.6 degrees. The trade off can be sometimes these diamonds can face up a little small for the weight due to having extra depth but they can be beautiful diamonds which show extra fire if the lighting is right and are prized by enthusiasts. The diamond above shows great promise, it should be a well balanced diamond which shows a nice mix of all the facets of diamond beauty, fire, brilliance, scintillation and so on. Can you post the star and lower girdle facet percentages too please out of interest? And the diameter, girdle thickness, polish and symmetry? Type of lab report? How strong is the fluorescence? It is said really strong is needed in order to have a beneficial effect on a colour grade, however I think any fluorescence is a nice bonus as long as it doesn't make the diamond look cloudy in some lights, this is rare but in the case of strong or very strong, always best to ask the vendor, faint or medium won't have a negative effect. Also to comment on price, is the diamond from a store or online? This can affect the price. ![]() Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. My girlfriend picked a blue nile setting that they will only sell set with their stone, so its a gia cert BN stone with no pics. I know at some point I'm just going to have to pick one and take a look, but trying to give myself the best odds :)

I'm not sure. It seemed like Paul Slegers with Infinity challenged what may be this representation recently in a discussion about the individual parts of the HCA. It might be worth checking on what he was thinking.... Ira (Ruffles have Ridges) Z. |
