I will be! What an interesting trip it seems to be.

He is posting on his website here- http://precisiongem.com/Trip/Trip.html

Can't wait to see what kind of rough the cutters end up bringing home

I heard that he picked up some tsavorites, cc garnets and tanzanites among many others.  We are going to be in for a treat.

I find Gene's blog so interesting. It's really amazing how they do business there.

I was very sad to miss this trip. I'm going back in December, but the photojournal of our January trip is here http://homepage.mac.com/lelser/trip_tanz.htm

The stones were amazing, and I've been having a complete blast cutting them.

Cheers,

Welcome to PS. lelser!!  Glad to have your on board!!!

I have read your trip to Tanzania with great interest!  Can I ask you a question?  Your swiss friend the award gemcutter Hubert Heldner, does he and his partner Katerina Kestemont has a website or shop front?  I am interested because I am in Switzerland and have not found any gemdealer or lapidarist who cuts for top performance.  Would really appreciate it if you could share this information.

Welcome to Lisa and I'm sorry you could not make this trip.

I'm with Gailey that PSers now have a Canadian option.

Thanks for the welcome!

I lived in the Zurich area for 5 years and miss it, but Vancouver is home.

Hubert and Katerina are in Montreux and their website is www.free-form.ch.

Zürich is a beautiful small & orderly city.  I love to visit now and then.  Montreux is not too far away from me, in fact I was there 2 weeks ago.  They are having the Jazz Festival on.  Wow, now I can go by H&K place for gem browsing!

Thanks for the link!!  Going to take a look now!

I'm crazy about Tsavorite. This is a 3.6ct stone from my last trip. Started life as a 13ct chunk of rough.

Lesler,
The colour on that tsavorite is perfect.  Not a hint of yellow and the green is so deep and rich.

Get in line ladies and take a number!  I’ve put in my name for one of the Mahenge spinels.

Those spinels caught my eye too, but they will no doubt be pricey!  Hope you get one, Chrono!

#3.  But I want a really big one so I'm not sure I'll be able to get a good selection.  I expect with colour like that, it might be a little tough on the pocketbook though.

Chrono, My worries exactly!!  He's had a Mahenge spinel on his list for awhile, and I asked if these new ones would be around the same price per carat.  I didn't like his answer, but I understand that these will be pretty high end stones.

Stone Hunter, I know what you mean - I held off on an auction last night for that very reason.  It was a great auction too - someone got a great deal!
Maybe my family wouldn't mind beans and rice for the rest of the month...
