Hi All~ Well I had started early window shopping for Valentines Day and was orginally looking at an openwork antiquey looking band, but then came across this mounting. I would use the diamond from my original engagement ring (currently in safe since the new upgrade has taken over ) which is a .53ct RB SI1 I/J . Any thoughts on how this would look? I am concerned with the diamond color vs. the white. I decided to possibly go Sapphires because I have rings for all my kids birthstones except this one. (ruby, diamond and sapphire) If anyone has any other antique sapphire reproduction looks you would like to share, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

I think this setting is beautiful. It's antique looking but not too fussy and I love sapphires! I wouldn't worry about the color of your diamond. It would probably be gorgeous in this setting!

Very pretty. I'm sure the color will be fine - but an antique setting can handle a little warmer color anyway.

Is that from Fay's ? It is a very nice setting and the J should be fine in it. One concern would be the size of the center stone: this setting (and most) should match the diameter of the diamond quite closely or else... If you order it, you may want to ask about this and also about the sizing - there may be restrictions about up/down sizing given those channel-set (?) sapphires. AAHHH, new diamond?!?!?!![]() That setting is gorgeous, too bad about the size of your diamond. Are you sure they couldn't rework the head a little? icelady |

It's a fairly straightforward design, and shouldn't be hard to cut a new master specifically for your stone. If he has the molds, he should be able to cast a new one pretty easily with a different head. If not, find someone who can cut you the ring custom, it is a fairly simple job for a store that does CAD design.

---------------- 0.05 what? carats? milimeters? Whichever it is is far too little to be of concern. The only way to know is get the measuments of your diamond (diameter) and e-mail the seller of the setting. There are many ways to go around this issue (as the posts above say too). Keep up posted! That's going to be a very nice piece
