My first spinel!

I am at work so I am just attaching the pictures Gary sent me (the stone is nicer in rl). It is GORGEOUS . I didn't realise spinels were so sparkly!!! I can feel a serious addiction coming I will try and take pictures this week and post them :) Here's the description: Shape: Round Color: Medium, Orangish Pink Weight: 1.89 ct. Origin: Vietnam - Luc Yen Dimensions: 7.23x7.48x5.01mm Clarity: Eye Clean Cut: Mixed Brilliant-Step Treatment: None Additional Information: This stone has been beautifully custom by a well known lapidary, and has great light return! I really would like to set this one as soon as possible...as a ring... although my budget probably wouldn't exceed about 400 dollars for the setting and if I can save a little on that even better. I haven't had time to take pictures yet which is a shame as it looks like the sun has decided to not come out today in London...I hope it changes! There is a small inclusion on one of the corners that can be easily hidden with a prong. I had a quick think and have toyed with the idea of a Lotus setting from Sally, the LOGR mount with the bezeled side stones (a few Psers have that one and it's so delicate and pretty) and maybe that new 8 mm LOGR with the larger halo (but would that be too big for the stone?) What do you guys and gals think? Any ideas? It's such a lovely stone, I am amazed Thanks for the kind words again, I promise you all some pictures asap!!!

It does have a little bit...but not enough to bother me. I am looking at it right now ( at work lol!) and I see medium dark pink. Hopefully the pictures I take will give you more of an idea.

ma re Ideal Rock Total Posts: 1,701 Last Post: 11/22/2009 Member Since: 8/10/2008	I'd probably suggest going with a Lotus, and not going with a halo - reason being that this stone has an interesting shape (almost round, but not exactly your ordinary round) and a gentle color (both of them). But it's your call, of course mr. ma re
