Selling designer setting - would it sell better if I put a diamond in it? |

In my searches for my own ring, I came across a designer setting in platinum (A Jaffe) for an excellent price and I bought it for the purpose of either saving it for the platinum value or for reselling. It's a size 8.25 and 6 mm wide, so it's a pretty substantial 12.5 grams of platinum. Would I do better reselling if it was set with a diamond? Should I set it with a CZ to help it sell? (just because the buyer would better be able to visualize the full effect?) From reading here, I have contacted Pearlmans to ask about consigning it. Is there anywhere else I should contact? Have any of you had success getting decent prices on Craigslist? Thanks! |

I wouldn't recommend setting anything in the ring which will enable potential buyers to consider it as an option for a diamond, a colored gem, a cubic zirconia, etc. Instead I would try to find a file photograph of the ring style pictured with a diamond or CZ center stone and explain that the setting does not have a stone set in it... __________________________ |

Thank you. I did take your suggestion and was able to find a photo of the setting with a diamond in it. Anyone have suggestions on where to sell besides eBay?

I didn't want to post here since this isn't a selling forum. However, the other poster found the A Jaffe setting on Diamond Bistro. If anyone else has other suggestions on where to post for sale, please let me know. Thank you!
