I don't know about cheap, but I love my set of Quantum diamond and jewelry scales... Of course it made for an "interesting" half hour on the side of the freeway the day I got pulled over by the California Highway Patrol going, uh, almost twice the speed limit in a Porsche and the officer happened to notice a small zip lock pouch laying on the floor in front of the passenger seat! It didn't help matters that the empty bag had something like "4.5 GR WT" on it! His comment in response to being presented with my business card was "Nice front! Now tell me where your stash is so we don't have to rip apart the car..." and the experience only got more interesting when he had me pop the trunk and a set of Quantum scales capable of weighing dust particles was staring the officer in the face and a roll of zip lock baggies was laying next to them.

I always wondered how you could afford that Porsche.

X 3 Todd, you are a riot!!!!  * weeping* at" tell me where your stash is!!!!....LMAO!!!

Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. When a horse dies, the memory lives on because an enormous part of his owner's heart, soul, very existence dies also...but that can never be laid to rest, it is not meant to be...

Hilarious!!! You definitely have your front down pat, all this diamond and gem business is really just a ruse to keep the attention away from your real business. Nobody actually sells gems. lol.

Have you checked out the selection of portable scales offered by
Kassoy I would contact one of their sales representatives and ask them which models seem to sell the most often, have the least returns / complaints, etc.

You might also contact a few of the independent Gemologists / Appraisers available via the Resources / Appraisers link at the top of this page and contact the ones who offer mobile appraisal services and inquire what scale they are using...

Tanita makes pretty good products. There’s a tradeoff between accuracy, capacity, portability and price that is going to be different depending on your specific requirements. Would a 10 gram max capacity be acceptable for example? If so, the Tanita 1210 is well regarded. Can you tell us a little more about what you’re trying to accomplish?
