Hi Everyone! This is my very first post..and I hope you guys can help me out!

So, here it goes...

I knew nothing about engagement rings (even though my dad is a jeweler and owns a jewelry store), all I knew is that I wanted a simple solitaire engagement ring. I saw one, about 2 minutes later I decided that's what I want. It's a emerald cut, vvs1, colorless, on a simple platinum band, about a little bit smaller than a carat. It looks beautiful on my small, yucky hands.

Anyway, fast forward to now, (a few months later)..after looking around, I decided to change things up a bit. I want to keep my ring the way it is (I love it, that's what I got, and most importantly my fiance loves it and it means a lot to him). So all I am changing is the head.

Can you guys post some pictures of engagement rings with a plain band, and a halo around the stone? also if you can get some side views, because i want to do something unique from the side as well, perhaps add a pink diamond, or something? I don't know, I want this ring to be perfect!!!

Thank you much!!!!!

And please give me your suggestions..what kind of setting do you like for an emerald cut with a plain band?

You said emerald-cut diamond, with a halo, and a plain band, correct? How about something like this:

Jane Taylor Emerald-Cut Halo

If you are going the custom route, I don't think it would be impossible to add a surprise diamond in the basket.

This is also close:
Isabella from Whiteflash

Whiteflash does custom work, and they could modify this to fit an emerald cut and have a plain band.

I have an emerald cut with a halo and a plain shank.   Mine was custom made for my by Ocean Pearlman through Wink. Ocean is Wink's top designer. My ring was reasonable in price and if you like it, I have given Ocean permission to reproduce it. You can reach wink at www.winkjones.com

My emerald cut is a square emerald, but the ring can be made for a rectangular emerald cut as well. And Ocean is amazing about including customer preferences so I am sure she could incorporate a pink sapphire as a surprise stone into the design.

My ring:

There is also a Tacori setting that has a very fine halo and a plain shank. It's lovely and I had tried it on several times, but for me personally, the head was too high. They can make it for an Emerald Cut

Emeraldlover has one similar to it with an Emerald cut but with a pave shank. But just so you can see what what the halo would look like with an EC:

One of my favorite settings for an EC is one our member Blue Roses just had custom designed. It's the opposite of mine. She has a pave band and plain bezel around her stone. I think her ring is one of loveliest rectangular Emerald Cut rings I have seen.
Actual GORGEOUS Ring:

Aw, everyone thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH! I love it all :)

Gypsy, what size are your diamonds around your center stone? I would prefer in mm.

Also, if my ring is just under a carat, and I do NOT want the halo to overpower my center stone, what size diamonds should I get in the halo???

Thanks again everyone!!!!

Kaleighs right, they are one pointers which are 1.3mm. My diamond is 5.87 x 5.89.

I think the key to not overwelming you stone is not just a function of the melee size, it's also a matter of the pave style and the amount of metal around the stones.

By the way Dashimurzi, I want to say that I've always loved the look of a diamond halo with a plain band so I think you're on the right track.

And Gypsy, yours is a beautiful example. Just the right height, lovely.

Oh how sweet! Thank you TS!! Ocean did a gorgeous job, and I love my setting.

It's not just the design, it's the execution that makes my setting what it is... you can see what I mean here... http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=104772 which is a funny thread to read, and for me very flattering, and Ocean's price (which is actually pretty close to Excels for the setting) is very reasonable for the setting, at least the last time I checked-- especially for how fine and detailed and well finished her work is.

If you do go custom, please chose your vendor with care.

Thanks again!!! :) You guys are amazing :)

Gypsy, I looooooooove your ring, and am surprised I don't see a halo with a plain band that often.

Also, do you happen to know the measurements of Emeraldlovers ring? How many carats is her center stone and what do you think the halo is? also are there any other pictures of her ring?

http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=93625 contains lots of pics of her ring, and also has her stone's specs (I believe her stone is over 2 carats)

Thanks again!

I will post pics when my ring is completed :)

Do you think a pink diamond on the side is too out of the ordinary? I wonder if I get it, I will change my mind about it in a few years? (I am 24).

Many people get colored surprise stones. I think it's a personal thing you have to decide for yourself if you will tire of it. You can also put one inside the shank, so you'll have it for yourself and not get tired of it. A 'secret stone' instead of a suprise stone.

Gypsy, you have one of the most amazing rings I've ever seen! Perfect example of how a halo square EC with plain band works.

Thank you very much Dimitri, Ocean's execution of the design is really where the credit must go. She did an exeptional job. And it's a special piece for me, not just because of it's beauty, but because of the time, attention, and care both Ocean and I put into making it work. Custom can be a lot of fun, when you are working with the right designer and company (Wink was amazing too), and it's so exciting to see something that exisits in your mind brought to life. As you can tell, I'm very happy with it.

Dashi... I can't wait to see your ring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gypsy, can't stop looking at your ring. Do you have any pictures of it on your hand? I know you gave me measurements of your center stone, but how much is that in carats?

I am in loooove with the way a plain band looks with a halo :)

http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=72011 is my thread on my ring my diamond is 1.09 carats, but square emerald cuts frequently face up small than rectangular emerald cuts. I think the hand shots are page 4 or 5. There's also a couple of other good hand pics from GTG's I'll see if I can find them for you.

Here are some nice pics of all of the attendant's rings from a GTG, including mine. The pics are on pages two and three http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=86048&pageNo=2
