I am looking to upgrade my wife's engagement ring (ACA WF .8 E SI1). My range is from 1.5-1.8ct depending on the grading. I am normally an e-ring buyer but I was shopping around and noticing that a lot of the retailers have dropped their prices. I am currently looking at two diamonds from Michael C Fina 1.5ct F VS2 HA (13.5k)and a 1.74 G SI1 (non HA but a very high quality diamond) for 17k both with excellent cut, symmetry and polish. Knowing that this is the second ring would you go for the bigger diamond of good quality or a "smaller" diamond of excellent quality. Let me know your thoughts!

Once you go to an ACA you cannot ever enjoy a "regular" stone! ![]() I'd go for the best cut as possible and would shop around a bit more. Maybe look for an H SI with ideal proportions.

I would stick with ACA or contact Brian Gavin diamonds about your upgrade... Some ACA http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/Whiteflash-ACA-cut-diamond-1466936.htm http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/Whiteflash-ACA-cut-diamond-1466952.htm http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/Whiteflash-ACA-cut-diamond-1466947.htm Breann |

If you bought an ACA, the only way to truly upgrade is through WF or BGD. Even if another jeweler would take the stone, you won't get the 100% purchase price you will from those companies. So I would contact both of them and see what they have. (I would have no problem with a very well cut, larger Expert Selection stone)

I had an ACA that I had paid $5,770 for last year. Jared wanted to give me $3,500 for it as a trade-in on a Peerless diamond!!! Needless to say, I upgraded with Whiteflash who applied the entire price toward my beautiful new stone.

Date: 6/24/2009 6:26:44 AM ditto Ellen, I would Trade in my ACA if it means an ES that was much bigger, and the only difference was that the polish was Excellent instead of ideal plus the $ would be less.
