 need advise on diamond purchase

Hi everyone,

I know very little about diamond and would like to hear some advice from you ladies..
im a guy and planning to by a diamond ring.

1. 20 baguette diamonds total: .98 ct Price about $800

2. emerald cut, .50 ct color e GIA cert. Price about $1100

if you were me, which one would you pick?
is baguette diamond somehow less value?

Hi Highlander!

Well my choice would be for the single EC but I would need much more info, clarity and cut quality etc.  Who has the diamond?  Do you know if your GF prefers EC's to a round diamond?

Polish: good
Symmetry: very good
Fluorescence: none
GIA cert.

is the price $1100 good?

Is it online or with a jeweller?  That can have a big influence on price, online are typically cheaper - but the price looks low.  Have you seen it in person?

Baguettes are normally used as accent diamonds in rings, value I am not sure of as to how they compare to others.
