HELP!!Hi all, I've learned so much from this forum over the past few weeks and I value everyone's advice. I haven't yet posted, but now I need some serious opinions! We are on the verge of purchasing a diamond for an egagment ring. Like so many, we are trying to get the most bang for our buck with a buget of under $13,000. We undertsand that we need to sacrifice somewhere, and figuring out the where has been our hardest part. Mostly, we've been looking at 2.0 carats, VS2-SI1 clarity, H-J color GIA excellent diamonds. We have been checking the HCA scores of all the diamonds that we've looked at and have been finding ones that are falling into the "Excellent" classification in all (or most) categories. Here's the diamond we are considering: GIA Excellent Cut (Very Good Polish, Very Good Symmetry) 2.17 carats (8.35-8.39 x 5.05 mm) VS2 J Color Table: 59% Depth: 60.3% Pavillion Angle: 40.8 Crown Angle: 33.5 Girdle: Medium to Slightly Thick HCA Score of 1.2 fyi this diamond will be set in platinum. From what I think I know, it appears to be a good diamond, but we are sacrificing on the color. Please help! Any advice is appreciated!! "Wheresoever you go, go with all your heart" ~Confucius |

The diamond shows good potential, have you seen it in person in a store or is it with an online seller? If online, then you could request an Idealscope image for the diamond, that would be very helpful. The table is a little larger than some we usually see but is still within good range at 59%. This is a diamond we found online, so we have not seen it in person. We've had a hard time finding similar stones locally (we're in the Washington, DC metro area). I'll request the Idealscope and see if the seller will provide me with it. Thanks for your reply! "Wheresoever you go, go with all your heart" |

Have you tried James Allen? They are in that area I believe and will see clients in their NY offices by appointment - www.jamesallen.com if this one doesn't pan out. We haven't been there in person, but I've looked at their online stock and haven't found anything similar. I'll definitely check again. Thanks!

How about this from JA if it checks out eye-clean? If interested, check eye-clean with JA and get an IS image from them to evaluate further. http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-SI1-Premium-Cut-Round-Diamond-1238289.asp
