I'm depressed. I've just noticed one of the diamonds has fallen out of my newest ring. It's tiny, tiny pave but now all I see is a huge black gaping hole. From what I've read this is not uncommon, but I have never had this happen before and I've had pave rings I've worn almost every day for years. Are they easy to match and replace?

I have the same problem with one of my rings. I purchased it from my local jeweler who has sent the thing back to the manufacturer 4 times in the past few months. Yesterday he sent it back gain with a strongly worded letter telling the mfr to either make it right or build me a new ring. I hope you have that same level of service from your jeweler. The melee is not difficult to replace. FWIW, I don't wear the ring very much and the melee falls out disproportionately to the amount of time I wear it. I have a desk job so it doesn't get abused.

I would take it back to where I purchased it, but that is in the US and I am in Australia...

Three days after my FI proposed to me, one of my pave diamonds fell out. And let me tell you...I freaked! I thought I was maybe too rough on my ring or what...but I got on pricescope and found out that it does happen. Sometimes if the ring is new, there could be a small piece of dirt in it that ends up dislodging the diamond when you move around. Or if you've been wearing it for a while, the metal could have gotten worn down a bit if it rubs agains other jewelry, etc. Sometimes, the ring has to be returned to the manufacturer depending on how many stones have already been lost and how often they keep popping off. As for me, I went to a branch of the same jeweler where my setting was bought and had it replaced for free. I was told that it's about $30 dollars to replace one of the pave diamonds and I llive in Florida. See if you could call local jewelers and find out how much it would cost to replace the stone. I hope it's not too expensive since I have no idea about prices in Australia. Good luck!
