I was thinking today about this and figured I'd ask PSers.

Mine is a criminal profiler working for the Behavior Analysis Unit of the FBI.

Something where I get to be around animals all day, but no surgery.

Mabye a dog trainer... Or a farmer!!  Yes.  I'd love to be around horses and everything all day - seriously.  Would have loved to have been exposed to that growing up... Or maybe a horse trainer or something like that.  Hehe, it's fun to dream.

A farmer, however, only to the extent of my idealized notions of what being a farmer would be like.

I'd love to work at a PR firm that specializes in crisis management.

If I could start over before college, I'd probably go to mortuary school to be a funeral home director.

Hi Hudson. I just went to Egypt in March, and wow! Being an Egyptologist would be a dream! I was in awe of the knowledge they have. What draws you to that career?

My (realistic) dream job: video game designer. Or programmer. I just want to make games.

My (not-as-realistic) dream job: astronaut or military special ops. But as a petite, myopic female, I'm just plain physically unqualified for those positions.

I also find Egyptology fascinating -- one of my favorite computer games from the early 90s (The Dagger of Amon Ra) was centered on the subject.

I've been obsessed with the history of Egypt since about the fourth grade. I'm sure part of it has to do with a love for adventure and the lure of Tut-like discoveries...I just can't get enough. I'd love to visit some day. It's at the top of my dream vacation destination list.

I don't know. I like designing things. And I like animals. And I like writing. I like to eat and cook. But I really like to cook because I like to eat, ya know?

I wish I was a better photographer (I think you'd actually have to TRY to be worse at it than I am), because I think that would satisfy my need for creativity and creation-- wedding photography, protraits, etc. It would give me a flexible work schedule (semi) and also allow me to be a part of things, while removed from them. Which is a good fit for my personality. But, like I said. I'm a terrible photographer.

I'm a good writer, but my attention span sucks.  But I think in novel length plot lines so short stories and novellas don't work for me. But when I start a novel... I don't finish it.

And animals aren't really a job. They are more a calling. Cats, anyway.

As for jewelry design. I think I could do it, and that I'd enjoy it.

And I like to eat. So... Food Critic.

Yep. That's it. Food Critic. I could write, I could have a flexible work schedule, get great free meals, help cats, write other things in my spare time. Plus I'd get to be judgemental and paid for it. And food is love. Okay. So that's my dream job. A VERY sucessful, highly sought after FOOD CRITIC!

My dream job would be either as the lead percussionist in a Broadway production of 'West Side Story.' I played that part twice with semi-professional groups and it was the most fun I think I've had playing music to date (which is many, many years). My other dream job would be to be able to travel the world in order to find gorgeous places for me to photograph with awesome equipment and then sell them.

Or, ideally, I could do both at the same time.

Realistic: I would love to someday work for the WHO in either their Health Systems and Services department, or their Information, Evidence and Research department. We'll see where the wind takes me after I graduate and work for a bit!

Unrealistic: Diamond trader! Or someone mentioned chocolatier, I could definitely get on that boat. I had visions of that for weeks after reading Chocolat.

I wish I could work with diamonds and designing jewelry - I think it would be so much fun going to work every day!

More seriously, though, I wish I could be a doctor - my father always tells me how much he absolutely loves being a doctor and helping people and wouldn't trade it to do anything else. I don't have the patience for all those years in medical school and I think I'm the type who would be very nervous taking someone's life into my hands - therefore, I won't ever be a doctor .

1. Something in the jewelry business - owning my own store maybe?  a cutter maybe?  a designer maybe? :)
2. Equine Chiropractor
3. Photographer - would love to photo weddings but then I'd be working every saturday!
4. Own a tack store
5. Own an equine boarding facility (I'd be broke though as they don't make money)

Sometimes I think about looking for a job in personal shopping (I see I'm not the only one!), or maybe something in an art gallery, planning events, or high school guidance counseler. As you can see I still have a lot of thinking to do about what to do the rest of my life!

Mr Graff's bag-carrier??

Seriously...

1) Gemstone Buyer for a upmarket company (buying low quality stones is soooo depressing)
2) To go back to designing and get paid more $$$ than you usually are
3) Novelist
4) Plastic Surgeon - most of my family are doctors, I had too many other interests and I think medicine is a vocation not a job. I don't think I'd be into getting out of bed to save peoples' lives, so plastics would have been ideal. Also useful to be artistic (even if it takes a long time to see the results) and I think it would be very satisfying working with burns victims or other people with serious disfigurements.

Anything in the realm of Astrophysics. Even just the word fascinates me! One of the colorectal surgeons at work was an astrophysicist prior to studying medicine, and we have the most amazing conversations!!

Forensic Pathology would be incredibly interesting too.

Great topic. I have a few:

Travel channel show hosts (preferably traveling to the world's most beautiful beaches!)

Food Network show host

Jewelry store owner

Labor and delivery nurse (I would love to do this, I just can't handle blood...I pass out every time I have blood drawn, so I don't think I would make it in that field, or I would do it in a heartbeat!)
