Ok so I dont know if this is a pricescope faux pas, but I am going to double post this here. I put it in "family, Home & health" because it seemed most appropriate, but I dont think it gets nearly as much traffic as the hang out, so I am going to put it here instead. Thanks! Anyway, I have been to countless doctors (easily over 50), have had every kind of test I could think of, and no one can figure out why I am in pain. So since I will try just about anything, I figured it was worth a shot to see if any of you have had one done, if you had problems from it, or if anyone may be able to shed some light on what it may be. I appreciate any input at all. Thanks! _____________________________ I live vicariously through myself.... "If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun." -Katherine Hepburn |

Hey NF you and I are 'pelvic twins'. I'm sorry to hear you are having difficulty with your hip. My pelvis and hip were reconstructed a couple of times about 20 years ago. No artificla implants, but a lot of bone work. I know exactly what you mean about the pain/dead feeling. I started having problems one summer after doing a lot of work painting inmy house, lots of 'up and down on the ladder' stuff. My Orthopaedic surgeon thought that I had bruised/injured myself and developed a bit of an infection/inflammation. He did a lot of injections of artificla synovial fluid, etc., thinking that I just needed more lubrication in the joint. Everything he did failed, and we were almost at the point of doing a hip replacement. I won't get into the detail because I'm sure you've had pretty much the same issues as I did. What changed my life a few years back was a doctor who decided I needed to make my hip stronger, but with careful exercise. She connected me with a pilates instructor, and we worked very very hard to strengthen the hip joint and all of the connective tissue. A lot of the adjacent tissue/ligaments/muscles were quite inflamed. Once those were settled down with the aid of some cortisone-type shots, we worked on strength. So as long as I stay strong in my joints, I don't get nearly the bone pain. Right now I'm havign a lot of it (and perked up with your thread) because since my surgery in January I am not nearly as active yet. My fitness level is at an all time low, so I have that low, achy, dead feeling in my hip again. Gotta get back on my bike I guess. Hope this helps, feel free to ask any questions at all. LS

LS- Thank you SO much! I really appreciate the feedback. That makes perfect sense. Its funny, because I have been avoiding physical activity for the last 6 years. I dont work out AT ALL because the pain is just to severe to do anything. I would fight through it but without knowing what is wrong PT's are afraid if I did something too intense I would cause more damage. I tried to go to physical therapy, and the guy told me he wouldnt work on me without knowing what the problem was. ![]() It just stinks because I am a month shy of 25 years old. And I dont think any 25 year old (or anyone for that matter!) should be in pain. I am getting away with not working out, because young age has blessed me with a fast metabolism. However, as I get older, I know that wont last much longer ![]() Pilates actually sounds like a great idea, i'll give that a shot! Couldnt hurt! (well it probably will, but you know what I mean! Haha) _____________________________ |

Haha) Glad to be of help. It took a very talented docter and physio to figure it out for me. But it works: I am in a lot of pain this week and it is totally related to my lack of exercise, conditioning, plus I've gained weight. Those factors really mess it up. try: Exercise bike Elliptical NO treadmill! Some yoga is good The pilates I do is with a physio using a pilates reformer: piece of equipment that I refer to as "the rack". It was ONLY when I started doing this that my pain stopped....here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hjrwt9aAgrY Feel free to yell when it hurts. I totally get it. Especially now. LS

Hi! I had a bone graft done on my hip too. I had spinal fusion done (from L4-S1) and they used my hip bone. After the surgery (15 yr ago) I've always been in pain (in my back). I also get occasional hip pain and I can't sit criss-cross apple sauce (yes I'm a mom lol) anymore. My left hip is just off. I was in a car accident 6mo after the surgery so I don't know if the pain was from the surgery or the accident. I wish I had an answer for you. I know about living with daily pain...it's hard. I hope something comes to light so you can get help for it!
