I Love My Sailor Cut Rock Total Posts: 240 Last Post: 11/14/2009 Member Since: 1/29/2009	Okay, I have pictures of the ring now. Its clear that non of you who answered my fist topic think its such a great deal! I did mention the deepness to the manger and he did confirm its deep but told me I was only loosing .01 eye visual as far as size goes. So, now I'm not sure what to do. I feel in love with the color but I really don't want to pay 3,000 for a deep stone which isn't worth the price anyways. What would be the best thing for me to do? I have a 30 day money back, after that... I can apply my equity to any other ring in the store if I decide not to purchase this one. You guys always give honest answers and I appreciate that, I guess I am looking for a little advice on finding the perfect M color stone without getting ripped off :)

He guessed the color was N and I know the clarity is eye clean. I do think it faces up a little small. and the price is 3,066.00 the total weight in the ring is 1.25 and the center is about 1.10

It might face up like a .75 ct. stone in which case you could do better on the price by buying a well cut smaller stone. Or it might appear to be eyeclean but have a crack in it. I think the ring looks very pretty, but I'd only consider it if they'd allow you 2-4 weeks to have it appraised with a full refund if you want to return it for any reason. At least then you'd know exactly what you're getting. ~~~ When in doubt...don't.~~~

If you move this thread to Rocky Talky you will get more responses. There are many folks on this board who can help you find a well cut M-N stone in your price range. This stone is overpriced. If you go to the PS homepage and use the search function, you will find comparable stones for much less. 3k is too much for this stone. You need to know what the total depth% is for this stone, plus the crown/pav angles, girdle thickness, and the table size. I would want to see it on paper--not just rely on the manager's word. I agree that it would be better to wait and get a well-cut M/N color stone that is certified or get an OEC or OMC. I really love the old cuts better in lower colors. I would get it appraised to be sure that their aren't any flaws that would affect the structural integrity of the stone. Like inclusions that reach the surface etc. If it checks out OK and you like the cut and sparkle and the tiny loss in size doesn't matter and the setting is part of the price, then I would keep it. Now, I love warmer stones with a deep and burning passion ... but I don't think you should pay the price of a more highly valued shade for a stone that may be deeper in hue. I say, get it appraised, and if it turns out to be worth what you paid, great! If not, you can either return it or renegotiate the price ....
